Hello from New England I'm part of the worldwide Gojira collective and I'm seeing them for the 11th since 2006 time in September in Massachusetts I'm a drummer and Mario Duplantier is a GOD!!! This was their "Black" album where they shortened and simplified the songs This was recorded at their Studio in NYC named Silvercord and was co-produced and engineered by the band Sadly Joe and Mario Duplantier's mother was dying of cancer while they were recording the album and STRANDED was about that struggle If you liked the song PRAY watch the live extended version from RED ROCKS 2017 Totally epic 😎👋🧐🤘
hell yeah man! love this project, but i do have to say their 2012 album is probably my favorite of their discography
Yes, L’Enfant Sauvage holds up with The Way of All Flesh and From Mars to Sirius and is arguably their best. To me, it just comes down to personal taste at that point.
Fortitude is a great album, the more you listen to it the more it settles like a fine (french) wine!
From Mars to Sirius is possibly their best, at least a fan favorite, but all of the albums from that onwards are stellar. Their early work (Terra Incognita and The Link) are more Death Metal vibes, still great but you can really see their musicianship and unique Gojira style growing through the later albums. Perhaps do The Way of All Flesh next then L'Enfant Sauvage then Fortitude.
They also did a full movie soundtrack to the silent film Maciste All-inferno, you can find it on youtube (not Spotify) - there's a version synced with the film and another of just the music. It's amazing, recorded around a similar time to their 2nd album - if there are any Gojira fans reading this that haven't heard of this go check it out! You'll find some inspiration for their later tracks in there.
If you don't have 45mins spare, go watch their re-imagined version of one of those songs called "Inferno" live in studio, that will wet your appetite.
Gojira lyrics are so far beyond anything I've ever heard. They fixed many issues I had with myself and the world. Major props to Terra Incognita for that.
If you're into heavy stuff and the WILDEST riffs, PLEASE do Terra Incognita, you will fully understand their heaviest side.
The Way of All Flesh is my favorite album of theirs
This is a great album, but imo albums three, four, and five are as good a three album run as any metal band ever.
From marsto sirius , the way of all flesh and l'enfant sauvage are there holy trinity , aaw shit your teacher lmao , but yeah all albums are great
I don’t know one person or media person that dislikes gojira.
