- For the first round of the FIA F3 race event in the 2020 season I prepared a track guide for Red Bull Ring in Austria on the simulator. This weekends series will be FIA F3, FIA F2, Porsche Supercup and FIA F1.
The previous F1 winners were Max Verstappen, Vallteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg or Felipe Massa. Let's see who is gonna win it this weekend.
Watch one lap around Red Bull Ring on the simulator! I was driving the FIA F3 car on Assetto Corsa. In the video you can find the explanation of brake points, gears, ideal lines for the simulator but also comparisons to real life like reference points and car feelings.
To get the perfect lap in the simulator AND even more in reality is difficult but it is just to try and give you an example. It depends on car (model), tyres (model), setup (model) , conditions (temp, wind, humidity, track grip level and so on). Example: The braking reference in a GT3 car is for sure a different one compared to a F3. Even in the same car the braking reference can change as it depends on different factors: Setup, car weight and fuel, wind, tyre milage, grip.
All those factors are necessary to get the individual "perfect lap".
All my descriptions are just hints for the perfect line. That is the experience I have from real life driving with different cars. I want to give you little bit of help if you are for example driving on a complete new track.

For each simulator software you have to find your individual setups. For each track, car model and software (RFactor2, Assetto Corsa, IRacing) that can be pretty intense and a lot of time. The difference in between the simulators and the equipment (PC, steering wheel, pedals, seat) also makes a big difference.
I have to say that the FIA F3 (RSS 3 V6) model from RSS is really good. The cockpit view but also the car handling is similar to real life. The track model which I am using for Red Bull Ring is pretty ok. Some run offs and and curbs are little bit different but that's it.
To prepare testing days, race weekends or just developing myself I am driving in the simulator pretty often. For the FIA F3 car it is always Assetto Corsa which I am using. Getting rhythm for tracks, simulating qualifyings or long runs, playing with the car setup and much more. For LMP2 I am usually using RFactor2. The car model there is good and RFactor has many race circuits world-wide. For E-Sports and virtual racing it's a lot of iRacing and RF2. There are multiple hosted races on all kind of cars and tracks.

@@TeoJunHao its great as everything by Race Sim Studio. Its also considered to be quite realistic, especially for a free mod. If you havent already take a look at the rest of their mods, I have bought everything over the last few months
@@jkraemo Yup, i been using the free mods from RSS and i like the RSS 3 V6 mod a lot, probably will buy the Formula Hybrid 2021 X,Removing the steering assist feels like driving the actual thing for me

Is there an F3 mod for ACC now, or is this a typo? If there is, I'd buy it now while there is a Steam sale (not into GT3 yet, so not biting into ACC if only GT3).

The passive safety for pilots has furtherly improved a lot in these last years, so why couldn't they consider to resume the original Nürburgring race track?
@David Em Yes, but if you consider how many present city street circuits are made, Nürburgring doesn't look much more dangerous than them.

This use yo be one of my favorite circuits but they shortened it tighten to many corners and took out the blind chicane at the top of the front staight and also took out the long sweeping curve at the top of the circuit that could make or break your lap as if you did nit carry enough speed though ut you were a stting duck gor th double leff hand corners. Niw its all jam in tge breaks and then flour it for the straights , no fineness needed just good breaks and power. And if you don't have the power to make the pass just ram the car you are trying ti pass because it's legal now.
I might actually prefer the Österreichring myself, but the Redbull Ring layout is a lot safer.

Sofia why don't you use the F1 simulator 2018 - 2019 or Project cars 2 , where driving is more realistic ? Project cars 2 has LMP cars . Try it , you'll like it .
Firstly: the F1 games are not simulators. They arent intended to be.
Secondly: Project CARS 2 does not have a Formula 3 car. The Formula C? i think is slower, and its not licensed so no real data anyway.
Thirdly: Project CARS 2 is also a pretty bad simulator in comparison to Assetto Corsa. Turning too much makes the car turn better, slides are super easy to catch, and its just a very forgiving sim in every way, too forgiving in fact. Ask any real racer who plays sims. Theres a reason they dont play PC2.
I want to add, rFactor 2's Oreca 07 is the best version of an LMP2 in any commercial simulator, hands down.
