- The state of Alabama held a special election to decide whether or not an alleged sexual predator of young girls will be their Senator. While we didn’t have the results in time for the show, there was still plenty to talk about. In preparation for the big day, the Moore campaign had a rally in Midland City where Roy’s wife Kayla Moore made it very clear that contrary to what you see on the fake news, she and her husband are not bigots. Turns out that she didn’t do a very good job trying to prove her point. She was only outdone by Roy Moore himself, one of his old buddies, and his campaign manager, who all said some unbelievable things.

It is only by something like 13 thousand more votes though. That does mean a lot of Republican voters crossed party lines to keep a predator out of office, which is great to see and something to be proud of, but the difference is still so little. He won with a lot of major groups, too. It's a victory, but just barely. :(

Yes, it's true. Alabama elected the best candidate here....by a very slim margin.
The funny thing about Americans to me is how we look down on the South as if it's the only backwards part of the US, when the whole thing was founded on White supremacy. Maine was the largest slave state before slavery ended in the North. Oregon (where I live) was in no way a slave state, but it was intended to be a White utopia. It was illegal to live here while being black. Native folks never faired well nor any other non White people. In fact Oregon's lash laws were just taken off the books in the early 2000's. (Look up Oregon lash laws).
The truth is all US states are racist as hell, but their particular way of expressing their racism varries. The outcome always bad for non White people, though.
I also went to school in Alabama ( Oakwood University - Huntsville)
The only place anyone ever threatened to lynch me was in Vancouver, WA.
That's the American way.
We live in North America and speak a European language.
And the native people of America after centuries are still subject to this country, instead of running things on their own turf.
