- I am producing this video series with my co-instructor, Myla Sunshine, who is a beautiful girl who has low tone and Down syndrome. She lives 250 miles from my house. Her parents were nice enough to allow me, a perfect stranger, to come in and share their daughter with the world. Thank you, again. My name is Amy Sturkey. I am a pediatric physical therapist from the United States. I hope to follow Myla as she develops. I hope to teach ideas to help her learn to move, crawl, sit and walk. I started this video series after questions came in from all over the world from people seeking assistance in helping children with low tone. The ideas I teach in this video are not appropriate for a much weaker child than the one featured in this video. I hope you find this idea useful and simple.
My website is www.pediatricPTexercises.com My Facebook page is Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises. Do not hesitate to contact me at amysturkey@gmail.com with questions, concerns or favorable reviews! Please note I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated.
I also have available 4 children's educational books addressing Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I now also have 3 professional books "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Hips", "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Knees, and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Ankles." If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at amysturkey@gmail.com. Please note: I am unable to provide treatment suggestions for a child I have not personally evaluated.
I am so honored to have people from all over the world watch my videos. I have reviewed and corrected the closed captions for this video so that you might understand what I am saying even if you don't speak English. I hope the directions below are helpful to you.
To turn on Captions, click CC in the bottom right corner of the video
To choose a different caption language:
At the bottom right, click Settings. It looks like a wheel.
Click Subtitles/CC.
Select a language.
If the language isn't listed when you click Subtitles/CC:
Click Auto-translate.
Select a language.
Of course, if the captions are in the way of viewing the details in the video, you can always turn them off in the bottom right-hand corner of your video screen.

@pediatricPTexercises I'm OT & have always specialized in geriatrics. Observing you makes me want to test the waters in pediatrics. 🙂

ow cuuuuute
She is so cute!
hi it my first time to watch your video, particularly this one dr. it helps me a lot especially I have a 9 mos old daughter now, who can sit but with my hand support, i tried to put her on a walker, she just lean her back to sit,.. but the most concerned i noticed is her legs which are not d same in length, it differs 2 cm.
I recommend you see a doctor regarding the leg length discrepancy. I am delighted that you liked the video!
is there a possibility that my daughter could walk? despite having a low tone also...
Certainly I cannot answer your question relative to your daughter. I have not met your daughter nor evaluated her. However, I think this video may give you some clues about the progress of your daughter although it relates to children with cerebral palsy. I think of it as fairly accurate for children with low tone as well.

Hi mam
My baby has brachial plexus in birth, at that right hand has no movement. After 3 months she lift the right hand now her hand is normal but the rotatory cuff is some what come high in right side what type of physiotherapy is needed. Is that rotatory cuff should normal? Plz tell me mam
Brachial plexus injuries are beyond the scope of the videos that I have posted here on this channel. Maybe in the future I will follow a child with a brachial plexus injury. In the meantime, I highly recommend you consult with a local pediatric physical therapist who can assess your child and provide a customized home program for your child. Unfortunately, it is considered unethical for me to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated.
Hi ma’am thank you for your videos can I start this for my baby he’s 8month and I just discovered he has Down syndrome
Though he sits now without support
Unfortunately, I cannot answer questions for a specific child that I have not personally evaluated. If you have concerns about an exercise for your child, I recommend you consult with a local physical therapist who can guide you in what is correct for your child.
mam my baby is suffering from floppy syndrom 2 yeara still not sitting not ctawling just rolling nd holding his neck after one year

I strongly recommend finding a local pediatric physical therapist to help you.

Je vous en prie
Am really interested doc. From Zambia.
I have been there. Beautiful country
Hello, what exercise would you advise for a baby born 4 months premature. He is now 9 months actual 5 months corrected (almost 6) and can roll tummy to back not not back to tummy, he can sit with minimal support and has good head control. So I'm wanting to help him sit and also his rolling from back to tummy. Any videos that can help would be greatly appreciated ♥️♥️
I recommend you find a local pediatric physical therapist who can help you. Here is the playlist for Myla who had low tone. Her videos are in a sequential order. Maybe some of the activities I perform with her will help your child. However, I have no idea if that is true. You need to find a local pediatric physical therapist who can guide you in your child’s care.
