"your car collides with the ground when it lands."
- Wirtual, PHD.
Lmao
I mean fair, but in this case it really is collide as in the models collide into each other instead of just landing on top.
good to know
@@Mrsuperdestroyer i mean fair, but the car landing on top is colliding

"It's quicker to hit the wall"
Me playing any racing game ever.

"Trust me! I'm doing it on purpose!"
Man giving such a great commentary while playing a precise racing game on a foreign language at 1 am.
Yeah I really enjoyed watching this guy he was so cool and composed it was impressive
Also, he plays on keyboard.
@@TecknoVicking well trackmania is unique where there is no benefit to keyboard or controller since turning and acceleration are binary instead of analog. I'm sure you knew but others may not
@@litapd311 That's where you're wrong. A controller allows for much more precise movement especially turning in a specific radius in a corner. The steering is completely analog. The reason why Wirtual uses a keyboard as his preferred steering input is simply because that's the method he's used to. He even at some point attempted to learn using a controller or at least improve at it on his stream but to no great success. This means he often has to turn-not-turn-turn during a corner to achieve the required cornering radius. The preferred controlling input in the top Tracknamia Esports leagues is the controller.
@@litapd311 Actually steering is analog, it just doesn't give you that much of advantage in stadium.
"Don't try that in real life, its a Trackmania exclusive"
@H3000 also rally drivers
The number of time while out driving I've been approaching a roundabout and thought to myself; "If I speed up, rather than slowing down, I could probably clip my outside front wheel on the curb and do a barrel roll letting me fly straight to exit 3, rather than go all the way around."
Remember, folks; drink driving laws are there for a _very_ good reason! 🍺🏎🚫
So, no breaking at all when flying with my car. Noted.
@@Varksterable that right there would probably save about 3 seconds
Wirtual should really go into the "Hall Of Fame" for best speedrun commentators. The fact that he did this in his second language, perfectly synced with Nichole the entire time with the donations, AND managed to explain not only the regular strats of the game but also _all of his mistakes too._ Easily one of the best if not THE best of SGDQ 2020.
He is looking at the camera all the time he is loading maps, commenting everything. He must have practiced for this a lot. It really is impressive.
He does make youtube videos and streams a lot as well, so it definitely is a good skill he has picked up along the way.
He has a CZcams channel and a twitch channel so commentating this game is something he is extremely good at
well he is a streamer so hes used to commenting while doing runs
He's a trackmania streamer, it's basically what he does every day :p
On top of what others have said, he did complete the entire game blindfolded. The series is posted on his channel and is tons of fun to watch.
29:07 casually sips drink as if he’s watching someone else drive instead of him.
Next up: doing all of this blindfolded.
Wirtual has indeed done it blindfold czcams.com/video/GCZx2bbZVxE/video.html
He's already done that: czcams.com/video/GCZx2bbZVxE/video.html
as others have said he's already done it blindfolded. he's also done a challenge where you beat the game without turning right
Next up: doing it blindfolded, driving backwards, doing only right turns? Wouldn’t surprise me if he already did that too haha
Gas pedal, brake and turning are on the arrow keys by default. you can play one handed.
1:17:04 "Which saves 3 seconds" man this dude had to frame perfect bounce from across the map and all he saves is 3 damn seconds
Not even just frame perfect, practically RNG perfect too!
Trust me, 3 seconds is A LOT of time when battling for track WRs in this franchise
In Trackmania, 3 seconds can be huge! On some of the custom tracks 0.2 seconds or less can be the difference between the world record, or the 30th best record.
the most impressing thing about this is that he had to drive the three laps before...
So he just gets one chance to try the bug every three laps that have to perfectly driven as well:)
3 seconds are like a century in TM. This game has an incredible skill ceiling.
I can't believe that he is playing this well and giving such a great commentary at the same time. This is really impressive.
Andrew Malkin both wirtual and Riolu_tm is super good at commenting while playing, awesome streamers
Also, he's on keyboard.
It’s so nuts
@@TecknoVicking pretty much everyone plays on computer and a controller functions in the same way so i don't see you point
@@wolf-xf6hf racing/driving games are almost always played on controller; even if run on pc. the reason why controller is easy is due to a joystick having more nuanced control in steering as opposed to clicking a key on a keyboard
This is one of those games that's much harder than it looks....great to watch an expert at it!
as someone who has put a lot of time into trackmania (i loved the custom track builder) it was shocking to see him casually take a sip of his drink while driving at high speeds, i would've crashed into walls 7 times at that part while not taking a sip and he just cruised through like it was nothing
@@SleepyPitou You need to put in so many hours to get as good as Wirtual. Right now I'm hunting gold for every track, and this guy gets the author medal with ease 95% of the time. It takes usually about 2 hours to get gold for each track and 2-3 more hours to get author medal on top of that. Imagine how much hours this guy has put in to do it effortlessly.
@@Atlas-gz9tk i dont know about those times. They Seem a Bit too high i currently have 32 hours in tmnf and got all the authors beside e05 and e03
@@lottimex lol my dude you are just talented as fuck
@@simonuser or the other guy is just bad at video games lol when i started tmnf it didnt take too long to get authors nowhere near 2 hours for golds lool
He's even looking in the camera when commentating, what a legend
"1 in a million bug and angle"
"saves 3 seconds"
3 seconds are much in this game
trackmania wr hunters will do 3 hours of playing the same track to a 00.02 shortcut

If you guys are so interested in his amazing commentary skill. You’ll be amazed at the quality of his videos.
so true, some of his videos are better then documentaries.
@@crazybeatrice4555 Just wait for him to talk about the pyramids in a main video :>
That was one of the most professional speedruns I've ever scene.

Wow, this guy NEEDS to come to GDQ next year! One of the most enjoyable speedruns and commentary I've seen from any game! :D
Great job!
thanks for donations ing
He did such an amazing run AND did all of that commentary by himself (which, in my opinion, was very informative and easy to follow), honestly he did such a great job! And the shortcut showcase really blew me away too~
do you have time stamps?
I remember playing this game with my friend, we would be so happy when we managed to get an author medal on a track... and here's this guy, who casually gets them on most tracks in a single try.
While sipping water and doing precise comments about the tracks
single try lol..
Random fact: He also mostly gets author medals on newly released tracks from Trackmania2020. Good lord.
@@Kyun9432 I mean, there comes a point when you've seen every turn on every surface a thousand times. So if the game doesn't throw an unexpected jump to the side at you, you can usually find the best line on each track just from experience. (not saying I could lol)
I really like this announcer's voice
"Absolutely!" - Nichole Goodnight
@@bennyelsensohn9299 "...Yeah!" -Wirtual.

- Sun Tzu, The Art Of War: Chapter 10 Verse 4
My man Wirtual banging out Auth medals first try like they're nothing
Having worked extensively with driving mechanics in games, I can to the best of my ability explain why the collision bugs he shows off in the end happens.
You see that the car is in a state of controlled drift while on the back wheels. Often driving code keeps a separate offset vector for controlled drifts, as relying on the computed physics friction on the wheels is too unreliable. I assume when the car is drifting on its rear wheels, the offset points it to move sideways, but the racing code has been designed to ZERO out the offset vector if the car collides with a wall.
So all the speed for the car goes along the velocity vector + offset vector, the front wheel clears the wall, but the bottom side collides with the wall, removing offset vector from the velocity direction, sending the car flying directly forwards in relation to its orientation.
I hope someone finds this educational.
Thanks for the explanation
I love learning about how certain game mechanics and why bugs work and I love coding, thank you for commenting this it is very interesting.
Thank you for your detailed explanation on a possible implementation of this bug. I really appreciate it!
wdym
wow thanks
Unreal to think anout how the bugslide engine off D-07 skip was found AFTER this amazing run.
I could listen to this dude's voice forever
On the 19th of Augst 2020 the player "Wirtual" would play the game "Trackmania Nations Forever" for GDQ doing an all tracks no E05 playthough and he got... *this* run
why doesn't anyone talk about how good this game looks for being released in 2008
Ikr?! The graphics are timeless in this game.
@ yeah its like its meant to be that way or else it will look bad, but NEW Trackmania looks spectacular with new surfaces and and special blocks(like engine off block that you saw).
You're ignoring the fact that the game is flat as fuck.
@@ElectricalSwift I'm not sure what you mean by that. The maps have many hills and inclines, and even if they didn't, it doesn't mean it's a bad game.
racing games usually look good for their time cause the devs don't have to focus as much on character animation and other stuff like that
the runner and the host have great chemistry, its lovely to witness
nichole goodnight is more pro that it seems at first
I hope this run gets more people in the game.
Spoiler alert it did
Wirtual getting the algorithm on his side, and I'm one of the recent people getting into the game because of him. It's sick :^)
I got turned on to Wirtual through the algorithm about one or two months ago. After binging Wirtual for many hours I decided to pick up TMNF myself a week ago, and now I'm just checking this to see someone not crash and burn on literally any turn in a red track. That difficulty spike is no joke.
we spent HOURS in the hot seat mode of this game, we would set a laptop on our club, with 3 mins of play each and play only white tracks. Those are the easiest, but everybody was trying to get those 0.0X seconds to improve and not be the last. Ah, the memories!
Man, Wirtual is so cool. So skilled, so well spoken. Seems like a really awesome guy and this run was just fantastic
Gave this a thumbs up after a few mins and then when I got to the end went to thumbs up and got super disappointed I couldnt thumbs up again. Great run and commentary, thanks so much 👍
Talk about expertise. Hes not even trying and english is not his native language. Not a stutter or pause in his speech.
He's Norwegian, isn't really surprising. I'm danish and my grasp of the english language is better than most native speakers, i'm fairly certain the same applies to most if not all scandinavian countries. Not saying we all speak perfect english, but those of us who grew up learning it definitely do.
As a non-native English speaker his English is much easier to understand than American's one
@@user-wo5ug7sl9z That's probably because native speakers tend to use more advanced vocabulary.
@@Toopa88 Not really "advanced". More like we slurr a lot and use a lot of colloquialisms. I'm working really hard to use proper English as I detest the language as a native speaker.
@@xPLAYnOfficial indeed, I would say non natives use way less colloquialisms than natives. Coming from a non native who has been to and talked to Americans/ British people
I used to play United semi-"professionally" so long ago, but anytime I see a REAL pro play this game I'm just in absolute awe. Amazing run!
Edit: HOLD UP? THIS LEGEND PLAYS WITH A KEYBOARD? My eternal respect to you good sir.
This game was made to play with a keyboard, the developers set out to do it that way. I never played it with a steering wheel, but this is very different compared to other racing games. :)
@@oonmm I ain't talking about a steering wheel mate. I'm talking plain xbox controller. Get the fine steering in there to squeeze out some .0xx of a course. It's how I played.
For pro players, it is around 50/50 split between keyboard and controller. Neither has a big advantage, it's mostly just preference.
Birb Not really true. Only in some specific cases. Usually the difference is 0.0x max. If the difference was that big, this guy would not be as competitive as he is
@@mightymaniac8712 In the new game the difference is bigger at times, on bobsleigh ice its massive as in like half a second at times. and being able to noslide on dirt or grass for hunting makes a massive difference aswell. For TMGL tho? It really doesnt matter since it usually isnt about those 0.1x seconds in the end
IMO one of the best gdq runs ever, excellent job all around by Wirtual
This really is an amazing run with amazing commentary and execution. Pinnacle of what GDQ Online can be!

Amazing run!!!
I know it has been said multiple times but holy shit this guy is the real deal, great commentary with an effortless exhibition of skill. Superb video

One of the best commentary in GDQ history, well done !
I spent so many hours, probably thousands of hours on this game back in the day. This brings back memories.
Donators speedran that donation incentive, got WR too.
This is the same guy that beat this game blindfolded
This is the also the same guy who beat the game without turning right once.
Wow, this GDQ run is just pure second to second dopamine.
Bring Wirtual back this year! Just so good:)
Lol Wirtual casually drinking water, listening to Nicole reading out donations and killing the track like it's nothing

It sounds scripted! And maybe it was - but to deliver it so smoothly and effortlessly... Wirtual, my hat is off to you. Masterful performance.
Never played this game but happy I found his CZcams channel not too long ago, fun to watch, and good quality delivered!
This was such a nice watch after getting deeper into Trackmania myself after Deep Dip 2. Such a great run and good commentary
It was a really nice run. Humble guy and an unusual game genre in the speedrun world- at least for me.
I am here for soulslike games but really enjoyed this run! Thank you 🙏

I think this is the fourth time I've watched this run, absolutely amazing performance from Wirtual, both with gameplay consistency and quality commentary. Wirtual is just on another level
Amazing run and commentary. I'm not sure why I never watched it but today it finally happened.

I grew up playing the very first trackmania game that I bought at a book fair in middle school. I continued playing the game up until the release of nations. I remember being the 2nd person in the world to get 1 reset on the hardest course in platform mode. Unfortunately, by the time that I got 0 resets, I was like 20th. Such a fun game series. Great game, great run, great commentary, well done wirtual
It bothered me so much that C-07 was incomplete i kept it in mind the hole run. It turns out it was only that he got the silver medal so it was hard to see.
