Would you like to have even, balanced hands that are free to play musical fills around the kit? In order to do that, you have to eliminate that weak hand that’s been causing you all the frustration and potential lack of growth.
Today we’re doing just that! I’ll share with you why this warmup is so simple yet so powerful, then I’ll break down for you exactly how to play it and what tempo to start at. Then, I’ll teach you the 3 big technical skills you must learn to really nail this exercise.
This warmup is so cool because it works both hands evenly - AS WELL AS your singles and doubles and hand-to-hand coordination - All at the same time. Let’s dive in! YOU CAN DO THIS!

You're probably an incredible performer, but as a teacher I don't think I've ever seen anyone better. You clearly appreciate the microdetails of issues that plague various drummers. Always great videos. Great vision.

Oh. And by the way. Great lesson too. Single, doubles and hand, finger, wrist control are things that drummers of any level always need to think about and work on. 🥁❤️

Good information. Does anyone else notice when learning new patterns that some are really easy to learn and others are really tough to learn? Playing slow over and over builds the muscle memory.

Sweeeet! Stephen. Your playing is so even at the faster tempo. Awesome exercise! 🥁❤️

Hi Stephen. Love your videos! You have the gift of teaching! The link to your website with the mini-course on Eliminating your WEAK hand in 3 steps does not seem to be working. Is there another way to access the course? Thank you again for the great content.

great lesson! surprised how quickly i picked up this sticking. As for my current fav warmup, I've been doing Jeff Randall's 20-Minute Warm-Up For Beginner & Intermediate Drummers. I speed up the first half (100.10%), then slow down the second half (95%) as I work on my finger speed for single stroke rolls... I also like Tommy Igoe's lifetime warmup basic at 130 (i like Jack Young's play along version with notation). again i slow it down at first and run thru it multiple times at increasing speeds (90%, 95%, 100%) and then slow it back down once or twice. thanks for all your content! love the channel!

Hi Stephen. Your tuition is, and always has been, GREAT for me so thank you. I don’t know about others, but when I play the singles to double exercises slowly I find it challenging to not hear the difference between singles and doubles. I kinda noticed with your slow tempo playing I could also tell. No criticism by the way. My question is should I not focus too much on this or actually focus on this until singles and doubles are indiscernible? I get that, at faster speeds, the difference in sound is negligible but the point of this exercise is slow at first. If you could clarify that would be great. Greetings from Australia, Dave 😊

I’m right handed and work it a lot around the house. I feel like my left hand has a looser, more relaxed grip than my dominant hand.

hey Stephen, thank you for all your content. do you think you'll ever make shorter videos? 30 min is hard to consume.

Interestingly enough, his videos got to this 30min length AFTER he sent out a survey to his email subscribers asking about ideal video length. Maybe it was coincidence, but I believe his videos now average close to 30min because of his survey results.
