- The Psalms command us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, so today we set aside time to pray in accordance with Psalm 122:
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces."
For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you."
Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.
- Psalm 122:6-9
As servants of God, we also love the very stones and dust of Zion:
You will arise and have mercy on Zion;
For the time to favor her,
Yes, the set time, has come.
For Your servants take pleasure in her stones,
And show favor to her dust.
So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord,
And all the kings of the earth Your glory.

The Lord was crucified in Jerusalem. Why the city is called Sodom and Gomorrah figuratively? It might be because of the desecration that will take place , in that city at that time. I would say it would be during the tribulation's period where the Holy Spirit and the church of Christ will be off the earth and the man of lawlessness will invade the planet, including Jerusalem.

The verse in revelations that you are referring to is in regards to the last two prophets of the final days or end times, while the cities where these two prophets shall be is spiritually called "Sodom and Egypt." Many theologians have argued that this is a literal reference to Sodom and Egypt, but because the verse from scripture states that the Lord was crucified there, it will mean that the reference to Sodom and Egypt is not literal, and is referring to a place within Israel that has been named after Sodom and Egypt.
