- Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another episode of Living With A Mazda MX-5. In this episode I talk through how the car has changed since I fitted the Jass Performance 25mm wheel spacers.
I hope you find this video helpful and of some use if you're thinking about taking the plunge in to the wheel spacers world.

new wheels it is then, thanks for your honesty :)
No worries pal, thanks for watching.
Thanks for posting this video, it's good to hear an honest opinion on how things like spacers affect driving and not just the looks. I completely agree with what you say, I recently drove an identical MK2 MX5 to mine that was running 25mm spacers and the steering just felt weird, a bit less responsive, slightly heavier, and mid-corner bumps upset the car a lot more than my car. I run standard Mazda offset wheels on my car and have often considered putting spacers on for the looks, but when I remember that test drive it brings me back to earth!
Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. I won't lie, a part of me did want to keep them on for the sake of style, but I wasn't happy with the compromise on the driving, and let's face it, the MX-5 is all about driving.
I added 0.5mm spacers a while back, 2 different kinds, and had the same result mentioned by you. The back-end seemed more eager to step out and I felt the car was overall less stable. Removed the spacers and instantly the car felt good again.
Yeah, I just think the MX-5 is a car that is sensitive to spacers in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
What kind of grips/mounts are you using for your gopros? I have a gopro but i dont have these specific mounts that you have; ideally, if you can post a link to where u got them from? Thanks 😎🤙
Hi J M, thanks for watching. They're all GoPro branded ones, I don't have a lot of faith in some third party offerings.
Do you prefer the mk1 or mk2? Noticed you had a mk2 previously!
Hi Jay, thanks for watching. Hands down, it's the Mk1. It feels a bit more free revving, it's also a little bit lighter, it's cooler if you ask me, and of course, it's got pop up headlights!
Did you get a alignment after fitting the spacers?
Hiya Ollie, thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment. You raise a good point, no, I didn't have an alignment if I'm going to be honest.
@@CarObsession do you need one though? thinking about getting some spacers for my nb
Scary how much this sounds like my car. I know it sounds obvious but it’s identical sounding.
Has yours got a Cobalt as well?
@@CarObsession no but I feel like the bass kinda notes in videos never come across the same. Saying that my exhaust is broken and does make slightly more noise than it’s meant to
I have a mk1 turbo I’d spend ya money on a turbo as all mk1 should be boosted and u seem to be worrying about small issues on a car that is slooooow standard boost it then but some wheels that fit lol
Hi Martin, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. I'd disagree, the car isn't slow, it's all about how you drive it. I did consider a turbo bit I've come to really enjoy the NA power delivery.
@@CarObsession yeah there great cars have u been in a boosted or charged 5 ??
@@martinashmore5700 Yup, I certainly have.
In the wet, crap tyres,no alignment etc!!!!
You don't need wheel alignment, as the only thing that has changed, is the offset. Thanks for watching.
Tryee???
And have u had it in for any alignment etc?
@@andyvaid69 No, because as I've already said, it's not needed. Also, I didn't like the spacers, so they were taken off the day I filmed this video.
@@andyvaid69 They have been replaced.
