#shorts Did you know that the Sony PlayStation Portable 2000s and 3000s had a video output option? Today I'll be demonstrating that feature on my PSP Slim model 2001. SUBSCRIBE FOR DAILY UPLOADS!
It was so ahead of its time the fact you could on the internet and download mp3 songs and then listen to said songs on your handheld back when flip phone internet was ASS
@@TheZacharyMartinShow I mean, from there, you can play games and even watch movies and TV shows. but GBA can do that too with an accessory and the GBA player.
The psp go is the best psp for this situation simply because you can hook up the psp go to your tv and connect a ps3 controller to your psp go using the bluetooth feature. It's basically a Playstation mini.
@@jrm1314 not quite. DVDs run at a resolution of 720x576 or 720x480 depending on whether your region was PAL or NTSC. UMD Video discs run at 480x272. They look really good on the display of the PSP though.
Funny anecdote, I was fortunate to get a PSP 3000 as an Xmas gift around 2009. Loved it and I still have it. Later I managed to scrounge up enough to buy an Xbox 360 Arcade, but I needed a storage device to put DLC and games onto (I had no spare USBs, they used to be expensive!). I plugged in my PSP with USB mode and it worked! I regularly played XBLA games like Toy Soldiers from my PSP of all things. So yes, the PSP is so ridiculously versatile that you can even use it as storage for an entire home console 😂
The PSP walked so the Switch could run. Even then the PSP could do some things that the Switch cant. Literally years ahead of it's competition. Digital games, an internet browser, media features, Console Quality graphics, an analog stick. Back then when you have a PSP you would be the coolest guy on class.
My favourite PSP game has got to be nfs carbon own the city by FAR. I was really disappointed that nfsmw didn't have free roam, but then I played carbon. Have been playing it every day since, beaten the game I think 14 times already
I find it interesting how you immediately went to assume that he was Gen Z, why is that? You think we’re dumb when it comes to that kinda stuff? (Also no I’m not “triggered” just asking a simple question)
Did this ALLLL the time with my PSP. games, movies, emulators, other homebrew. I did this for probably 5 years straight. So when the Switch came out and everyone's like "world's first handheld to TV blah blah blah" I was confused and a little unimpressed.
Tip:if you hold the brightness button you can immediately switch to video output while you playing your game without closing the game and go to setting to switch to video output
@@LetsOpenOldStuff yea,I just randomly holding the button and suddenly my screen full black but still have sound and I try the tv output cable and it work...
I just got an insignia fire tv, and the app store has a psp emulator. This tv was a replacement for my toshiba fire tv. Both of these run on droid, so i was gonna jailbreak the toshiba one and make it a gaming tv, but looks like the insignia one already has emulators in the store. Probably because its got better chips, the toshiba one only had an arcade emulator and it couldnt work.
I love this video! I have a PSTV that could help make it a PSP device too, since I tend to use it for streaming purposes. But I do want to ask if you could do the same thing if you have a capture device and use this setup too.
I use the hdmi adaptor. It looks great on a small 720p TV but I wish I had an HDMI upscaler to upgrade it to 1080p to make it look great on my larger TV
Love doing this from time to time with the component cables. The cable I have is third party and can bend awkwardly but still. Had the cable for years then got a 2000 model and it finally worked the magical cable in the box. I think the way to hold the PSP is awkward and bends the cable and you need to be close enough to the TV or right angle to not bend it it's really annoying.
@@LetsOpenOldStuff It’s my favorite gaming machine of all time right beside the Xbox 360 for the amount of things you could do with it that made gaming even better!! If the damn memory cards weren’t so expensive they could’ve really taken off with that and we’d be getting a PlayStation vita two already.. that would be better than the switch just because of Sony exclusives and the fact that PlayStation had trophies and everything else on the vita and They would’ve continued that on a follow up!
With a modded PSP you can stream the video through USB to a PC, to me the image looks on par with the composite video out plus you can have the image full screen.
Agreed and composite doesn't do games, component does so besides that it can be confusing to say either I know I have messed up sometimes the functionality for either cables out there is important too. But yeah pretty sure it's 16:9 widescreen in movies. For games you get the 200 by something screen size of the psp and need your TV to zoom in or scale the image.
Honestly the only acceptable way for me to play psp hardware on the tv is through adrenaline on a hacked pstv. I remember having my psp 2000 hooked up to a tv and it looked god awful on an hdtv hooked up through composite.
Unfortunately no it's unable to like the 1000 only 2000/3000 models have composite (doesn't work with games but does movies, music, photos and menu based things, I guess if you have comica and other such too on there) and component (everything including games) cable support. Homebrew/modding would be needed on a 1000/Street model.
Unless modded no 2000/3000 have the port and video out feature in the OS when you go to settings. I know I have a 1000/2000 and you can tell in the settings besides that the cable will struggle to fit into the slot and even if you get rid of the plastic for the tie it won't do anything without modding/homebrew and using software there to allow video out. So 1000/Street cannot do video out to the TV without homebrew/modding. Also you want component cables for games and everything else, composite can't do games but can do other stuff like music, movies, photos and I assume comics if people have any.
@@LetsOpenOldStuff It's pretty sick. The one I have has a switch that goes from game mode where it's zoomed in for the game to fit the TV screen and a regular mode for movies. Grabbed it off amazon. lol
