    For anyone that isn't savy in cutting or soldering, you can buy speaker brackets that are the same as the factory pattern that fit 6 1/5 inch speakers, and the speaker wire harness that plugs directly into the white connector you unplug from the orginal speaker. No cutting or soldering involved.
    Speaker Harness : Metra 72-5602
    Speaker Bracket : Schoshe SAFD655

    Great information, saves having to fashion new sound boards to fit each door. Although two things worthy of note: Test your upgraded speakers BEFORE reinstalling your door cards and secondly, ensure the replacement speakers are of the correct ohmage for the head unit. two and four ohm speakers could potentially damage an 8 or 16 Ohm head unit, causing the output stage to overheat and ultimately fail, just when you thought that pounding bass was kicking so good. 😉

    Just bought a 2009 Zetec for the wife, although I'll be driving it a lot and I do like my music. It would have been nice to have had the size of the replacement speaker mentioned (or did I miss that?). My speakers are functional, but I like the volume up high when I'm alone, and some tracks send a horrible buzzing vibration through the door- they're not handling the bass. So replacement has crossed my mind. I have some nice Celestion 4 Ohm drivers sitting around but they're only 5 1/4 inches so I might need make an adaptor. It would have been interesting to see what the tweeters looked like. Probably garbage, but tweeters are a low priority for me, can't hear over 13kHz anyway. The Celestions can go pretty high in any case... it depends on where Ford crossed to the factory tweeters. Had some nice Jaycar 6.5" 4 Ohm but they ended up in an ancient pair of Wharfdale cabs.

    Theres another easy way for the smallest Soundsystem without changing anything. Just code the radio(bcm) to the bigger one. Works very fine. I also installed speakers in the back doors and code the bcm for havin the fader. The cables for the rear speakers are pre installed in the car but not plugged i the radio. You have to search hard for them. But they are plugged in the connetcor for the doors. In the doors you have to install new one

      Only the Zetec got the 6 speaker system. You might be able to get the parts from a Zetec from a wreckers. Door cards might be the hardest part to find. Or you could mount the new speakers directly to the door card without the factory grille. That might impinge on rear seat room though. They're already pretty squeezy :)

    5:15 lol bottoming out from that. Most the time these aftermarket options are crap, i upgraded the stock woofers from my 2010 fiesta and they sound worse asides from the tweeters. Most stock system speakers are optimized for the stock head unit, and which is why the aftermarket speaker couldn't handle the bass.

    Okay guys so I just replaced my original front speakers with exactly the same speakers as in the video. I drive Fiesta S Mk7 2010 with originally mounted front and rear speakers ( 2 door version). Unfortunately original ones sounded better than the Kenwood. It made me think when I got Kenwoods and compared them size wise to original ones. Kenwood had much smaller magnets and smaller coil too. Original sounded alright with decent bass but when the music was louder it was distorting sound, but after watching this video I thought it will be much better bass as you said in the video. To summarize I regret replacing them and I wouldn't recommend those speakers.

    • @TheHandyTech
      @TheHandyTech  Před 6 lety

      Jakub Tokarz I guess the screenshot was a little misleading. The state of the factory speakers in my case were terrible. They had very little response, were scratchy and only got worse with volume. The kenwoods are cheap speakers, but are much better than the shitty state the factory speakers were in. You could always use this tutorial to aid in installing some higher quality speakers of your choice

    • @jakubtokarz8467
      @jakubtokarz8467 Před 6 lety +1

      TheHandyTech to not be misunderstood, this tutorial is a great instruction on how to replace your speakers step by step. It's just the shitty Kenwood speakers that made me cry when I heard them 😂 So just for people who are like me looking for better sound than original - look for better speakers than Kenwood.

    • @fredrubble5024
      @fredrubble5024 Před 4 lety

      Some years ago I put Kenwood splits in the doors of my Soarer. They were the last of the 4" Kenwoods and sounded far better than the originals. I didn't want to go any bigger as a lot of mods were required, and in any case I put new 6.5 in drivers (also splits) in the parcel shelf. A 10" subwoofer also helped with the bass :) (Soarer is a 2dr coupe and came with two 6.5 in standard for the rear, 4 in for the doors, mine were totally shot). Some models came with an amp in the boot floor and a 10" sub in the middle of the parcel shelf, 2 Ohm though. Mine didn't have the deluxe stereo setup so I put a new sub in the stock position, with a 4 Ohm amp in stock position under the floor mat in boot, and ran the rears and sub from that, fronts off head unit).
