The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, said: It is as if I had been called and I answered, that I have left among you the two weighty things, one of them is greater than the other, the Book of God and my family, my family, so see how you left me in them, for they will not separate until they return to me at the Basin. [Sunan An-Nasa'i Hadith 8148].
And he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, said: The people of my household are like the Ark of Noah: whoever boards it is saved, and whoever stays behind is drowned. [Al-Mustadrak on the Two Sahihs, vol. 2, p. 373, Hadith No. 3312, chapter on the interpretation of Surat Hud].
The evidence clearly indicates that following the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) is the one who saves from destruction.
The follower of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) only walks securely and reassured by this blessed follower, unlike the followers of others whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) did not stipulate that they should be followed, but rather reached the leadership of the Islamic community due to well-known political circumstances. He is reassured to follow their example and take the religion of God from them.
The Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) said: (Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt). [Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal 3: 113, Musnad of Anas bin Malik, Sunan al-Darami 1: 61, al-Mustadrak on the Two Sahihs by al-Nisaburi 2: 13, Book of Sales].
My brothers, the opportunity is still ripe, and the ship of salvation is waiting, still whistles from the prophetic call: “He who rides on it is saved, and he who remains behind is drowned.” “I left among you the book of God and my family.” Here we have shown the way.
