Digital Tach Hour Meter Blank Screen Repair

This is a video talking about the repair of a Digital Tach Hour Meter that had stopped working with a blank screen I opened it up to find that the issue was caused by a failure of the 3v button cell. i replaced this button cell to bring it back to life.
These Digital Tach Hour Meters work by a wire being wrapped around the spark plug lead. when the engine is running this induces a voltage which the meter detects and starts the counter running to record the time the engine is running.
these are quite pricey hence the reason for repair

Thanks for the info, very useful. I was wondering what battery is uses. The hour meter I have just quit. Amazon has the hour meter for $8 US. A replacement battery is $6.
