    I am an addiction therapist for online addiction in germany and I have to say, that the coming policy in China (1h on weekdays and just 2h on weekend days) makes me jealous. Of cause people in china will go around it in some ways, but it would be a big hit to reduce the consumption.

      It just happened today that the policy is tightened as 8-9 pm on Friday, weekends, and holidays. In my opinion it is absurd. Kids won’t read books or play sports because of online games are banned, they will simply go watch junk videos or find other ways to kill time.

      i dont think it can significantly affect the game industry in China. It only restricts minors from online games, but minors only contribute 3% of tencent's revenue.

      There is no way to circumvent the restrictions unless your parents are in for it. You need to take a picture with your ID. Also I think similar restrictions exists for video platforms similar to CZcams (so either twiddle with your thumbs or go outside!) XD

      While its fun to jump on the anti Tencent bandwagon and there is good reason to, Tim Sweeney claims that Tencent makes no business decisions on behalf of Epic.
      And had this to say about UT: There are two considerations. First, many core developers on Unreal Tournament drove early Fortnite Battle Royale and are still key contributors. Second, we don’t know how to “finish” UT as the project was highly experimental and hadn’t found its essence.

      I don't know about video game regulation, but they definitely need regulation for soda and sugary foods, a lot of uneducated Chinese parents love their kids to be chubby and obese, they think it's cute and a sign of wealth, so they cram their kids with sugary foods and carp. You see a lot of those on Chinese TikTok. I bet a lot of those kids will grow up hating their parents.
