Babies are cute and piglets are cute, It only makes sense that a baby orc would be cute too.

Big True. I really liked how it wasn't just explicitly there for the cuteness either, but the innocence that ultimately harmonized and eased tensions from the long memories of the adults.
      Incredibly well done!

I liked the theming around making bread, because in the end they were essentially "breaking bread with the enemy".

I absolutely loved this storyline and the way the entire episode came together, ending with, as you say, "Breaking bread with the enemies".
This show is... unexpectedly brilliant because of things like this and the creative spirit baked (see what I did there?) Into every encounter. I'm hooked!
Good thoughts. Thank you for sharing!

Despite rising tensions, I liked that Marcile didn't stay quiet, but actually question the orcs actions. History, more often than not, is very complex and you may not find a single culprit if you look at the whole picture. Humans hurt orcs and orcs hurt humans. It looks simple, but it isn't. The conflict makes the world more realistic and alive.

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  Před 6 měsíci +9

It's true. It takes the classical conflict but offers a way to examine it that feels fresh, ultimately ending in making bread as enemies and breaking bread with gained respect and understanding.
      Very well done!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

it hasn't really come up with, but every sentient creature in Delicious in Dungeon is considered human. The humans like Laios are just called Tallmen.

@@pieperson444 Not really. It's just how some races call others. You can see that they still say elves, orcs, halflings and etc.

@@gustavolourenco5709 it depends on the region, the northern land people with similar bone structures are all humans, which makes elves, orcs, and halflings closer than the western land, where only tall men are human in tall man language. I was just looking for someone reacting to the dub to listen to while working on other things (hard to keep track in the Japanese when you don't speak it and can't read the subtitles at the same time) and I really love that you take the time to reflect on the deeper meanings of the series. You are very thoughtful and your anecdotes contribute to making your observation (and appreciation) personal and genuine. Looking forward to watching the rest.

Thank you so much for this comment. I was worried when I first started down the reaction path because I wasn't sure if there was anything I had to add commentary wise. I was genuinely worried I would get stunlocked into just saying "Oh wow" or "that's awesome."
From the first reaction, I wanted to share a connection. Mine will always come from a place of pain, but looking forward to hope and adventure. I realized that, in my life that I have lived up to this point, every experience and interest has always existed to elevate the world around me.
That's the magic inherent in art. Whether singing at a train station in Japan, or doodling in a notebook, or self-publishing a novella. In every part of art, I want to elevate that experience, and thus, I found my voice I was so afraid wouldn't be there the moment I opened my mouth to speak.
I'm glad that the thoughts that are conjured in these reactions have reached you, and hopefully, in some small capacity helped you find that same appreciation in this art we call life!
Much more to come! I had to set aside the CZcams channel for a time while my father was brand new in his cancer diagnosis, but with the gladest of hearts I'm happy to say he is doing so well, and my mind is at ease to once more return to reacting to this delightful series.
Thank you for such kind words. There is power in prose, and you wield it as deftly as a sorcerer wields magic! 🙏

@@Noxiddar thank you for taking the time to respond, I look forward to seeing more of your channel. And thank you for your words, elevating others through art is a goal I wish I could achieve.
That said, as the partner of someone who survived two cancer diagnosis so far and is looking into preventive surgery because of genetic/family predisposition to a third, I fully appreciate that a lot of your priorities must be re-evaluated. I'm glad that your father is on the way to recovery and wish for you to have many more years to enjoy his presence in your life.

    Enjoy watching your reactions!
Even though this world is fantasy the author does such a brilliant job at linking very human aspects of our world to theirs: Respect to the earth that provides, the cycle of consumption and how people can come together over good food.
Also that part where you talked about appreciating the scenery that locals sometimes just put in their regular background. There are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see.

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  Před 6 měsíci +6

I really like that sentiment: "There are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see."
      So true.
I really see harmony being a very big component to the storytelling of Delicious in Dungeon.
It permeates through every part of the story, both in the examples you gave and also on views of life and death. Death is to be avoided, but it is never really given a heavy sense of finality. The matter-of-fact way Laios recounts his first death really drove that home for me.
This is very smart fantasy. I'm glad I gave this story a chance, glad to be surrounded with people that appreciate it too, and glad that Ryoko Kui found this to be a story worth telling.
I'm 4 episodes in and I am truly captivated by what I've seen so far.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! I enjoyed reading them!

Just binged all your reactions to this series so far, really loving them! I also really like what you said about colors. As an animator, sometimes i really gotta take a second to step back from the perfection driven 'content' making mindset to just appreciate that i can make my characters move! I can tell my silly little stories with them and they're alive! Thank you for the reminder

    • @Noxiddar

I totally understand that driven focused perspective on creativity. I spend so much of my day to day thinking about things. Overthinking things, too. And more than anything, I'm really enjoying just being able to settle in and "feel" something with these reactions.
As I've gotten older, I've learned that life is more vibrant with a spirit of gratitude. A cold gray cynicism starts to settle in with critique.
Never forget to be grateful for where you've been, where you are, and where you've yet to tread. The rest of what follows is simply magic.
I wish you nothing but success, enjoyment, and fulfillment on your journeys with art and animation!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm loving Delicious in Dungeon! I have recorded up to episode 7, and will record up to current episode today.
2024 has brought some pretty devastating news in my personal life that has kept me from the CZcams side of things, but I've been trying to at least record a reaction here or there when I'm feeling stable enough.
Episode 5 is edited and ready for Friday, and then I'll try to stay consistent with reactions on Friday!
I appreciate you checking on me, I do apologize if I've caused any undue worrying!
I have a LOT of praise and appreciation to share for this show coming up. See you Friday!

If you notice in this series orcs are made to look like a cross between humans and wild boars. In a lot of anime and manga orcs are depicted as domestic pig-human hybrids.

I read the manga before diving into the show and I have to agree with you, I was a little worried that an audiovisual adaptation wouldn't hold the same strengths as it's comic version but the team behind it is doing a great job. Hearing that from a first time viewer is just delightful ^^
I'm very excited to hear your thoughts, especially on future episodes once the story really picks up and the themes come forward, thank you for sharing your reaction with us :]
