Drop The Hammer in Bentonville has been on my wish list for several years, and like most things in mountain biking, it’s a lot bigger in person! I thought we would roll up, give it a quick look, and session this drop but got pretty intimidated after getting up to the top! After a bit of contemplation and runups, one of the masterminds behind Bentonville, Gary Vernon, offered some words of encouragement and towed us in to the biggest drop of my life!

Its a really good depiction of what its like to hit that the first time. Once you get past the "Oh God" factor, its really one of the easier drops out there. Very well designed.

What a treat to have Gary tow you in on your first time dropping the hammer. He's a real down to earth good guy. My wife and I ran into him on Tunnel Vision last year and had a nice chat with him.
Isn’t he!? After we came back up after the first hit, our wives were talking to his group and that’s how we learned that he played a big role in what’s happened in bentonville. But it wasn’t until later that night when it hit me on why I recognized him!

**Also from MI. 😊 We were lucky enough to run into a guy that was sessioning Drop The Hammer and towed us in. (After about 20 minutes of building up the courage) lol My favorite line in Bentonville right there. We rode it for hours!
It’s seriously so helpful! I say we would have hit it on our own, but I’m really not sure lol I had never seen anyone hit it person or anything. First time seeing someone hit it was right behind Gary in this video lol
Idk if u have or not but the next thing you should ride if your in Bentonville is the new Castle Hub inside slaughter pen i love the trails there they are so freaking cool
Going there in a couple months! I do have a video out on the channel of riding there in their early stages before the hub was complete!

running in to Gary by chance is a real treat. He towed me in the first time too! Nice job dude.
Finally made it down to Bentonville from Michigan the first week of July this year. I know the " GoPro effect" is a real thing, but I didn't expect this drop to be so much bigger in person! Luckily I was able to follow a local in on it and ended up hitting it all about 15 times. By the end of the day I was towing other people in on it! What a rush overcoming this feature, can't wait to go back again!
