Our NavRepair division has mastered repair for UConnect infotainment systems. They've replaced entire screens, and the issue happens on the replacement screens. So that may be an indication of a manufacturing defect.
Again based upon anecdotal evidence from forums and owner experiences, dealers will replace the radio as part of the warranty. Past that, we haven't heard anything about outcomes.
If the issue continues, hopefully FCA will provide a free of replacement solution. But don't count on that scenario.
Cadillac experienced issues related to faulty touchscreen. After customer complaints and even a class action suit, GM refused to replace the radios.

This happened to my CERTIFIED USED 2018 Grand Cherokee. Jeep refused to cover it saying it was covered. There should be a class action lawsuit against Jeep. Really gives me a sour taste that they know of a major defect and do nothing. My advice, when you first see the bubbles, FIX IT THEN. Once it gets bad like mine is now, it will start pushing buttons/clicking things automatically. I can't even use my radio/screen anymore till its repaired.

Actually a group did start legal proceedings because of this issue. But it seems to have died in the court system.
Try a different dealership. It seems to depend on the dealer as to whether they'll fix it under warranty. At least that's what we're hearing from our customers.

Okay, I am SO GLAD I’m not the only person who is struggling with this. I’ve had this issue since I bought my car (used) , I even asked the dealership if the delaminating was going to be an issue. Of course they said no. Now my screen does the SAME thing. Pushing buttons when I’m not touching the screen. I also have videos of it. The dealership won’t cover the cost to get it fixed. Now I’m trying to find ways to get it fixed because I can’t use my screen. It’s even worse because I travel a lot and need my GPS.

I want to thank you, so much, for your video. My husband was able to remove my radio by watching your video. He said, without seeing this video, he would have stopped trying to get the console apart. Mine was super stubborn and it really seemed like we were going to demolish the plastic, but it came apart, just like you showed, albiet a LOT more stubborn, and went back perfectly without any dents or scratches. I am so happy to have my screen fixed.

I just returned from my local Jeep dealership who quoted me $1400 to repair this. So frustrating because I saw this delamination on my 2018 JGC when I bought the car a year ago, but had no idea what the effects would be. I agree that this should be classified as a recall by Jeep. I love this car but not happy with this exorbitant fee to fix what should be covered by Jeep.

This is frustrating... the man i talked with said there are 4 operators working and they each get 7-10 calls daily about this screen delamination.. he said when they were made they forgot a key component in the glue they used when they assembled these. So they know it is their fault and literally get up to 40 of these daily and still charge 650 dollars each to fix these!! This is crazy ridiculous! They are making an absolute killing! And the only chance of reimbursement is to get on a class action lawsuit and hope down the road you get money from that? My jeep started this at 35k miles and finally spread far enough to start pushing buttons.

Great service. I need this. Is it the same process for the 2019 Grand Cherokee altitude? and do you repair those as well? and when you say let it go back to sleep, you are plugging it in and turning the car on letting it power on until when? and then just shutting the car off so the auxiliary power is still on until the screen powers on? I do not really understand the steps involved so that the system proeprly acclimates back to the vehicle.

Thanks. Call our repair department at 855-636-6287 to get service.
Yes we use the same process to repair screens for the Altitude.
Sleeping is the process of letting the vehicle's CAN BUS reset. You simply turn off and lock the car. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. The CAN BUS will update settings to reflect the new touchscreen.
Here's a video on how to perform a hard CAN BUS reset.

You would think that Chryslere would be on top of this by now if they gave a damn about their customers. But since they won't even acknowledge it, it makes me think that it's a built-in money maker for them to make customers bring their vehicles in and then charge them $1200 for something that is completely necessary and renders the vehicle unusable without it.
