I’m from the UK but have lived in Chicago for the last 6 years. I wake up at 4am to check news some days but I choose to play this game. Not going to complain about it…

I live in Chicago and this is my first season playing FPL. I've lost sooo much sleep since the season started haha but I am addicted to the prem now, so can't help myself.
Spot on with the defensive midfield options etc with points for tackle , they would all become template !
Spent the last 7 gm weeks taking hits etc to get 15 dbl gm weekers for bench boost in gm37, forgot to activate the chip. 22 points and counting on the bench.
Oh and I forgot to captain haaland in 36 as well. Bottled it!
interesting change would be if you don’t make a transfer, that game week your vice captain scores double points too would make for different strategies

The Walker benching forced me into the Gvardiol switch, never have I felt so lucky in FPL especially if you'd have told me Walker would still play 60 mins.
Son or KDB for Salah in 1 transfer possible. Easy if AVL beat LFC, but what if both need the 3p in gw38? what do you think?
My mini league rival is currently 10 points behind me with his free hit to use in 38. I have 1 free transfer with basically the same team as you (bruno and gvardiol instead of johnson and dalot + onana). Who would you recommend bringing in and do you think a hit might be worth it?

Don’t take a hit. Buy players he has that have been performing. He probably won’t take them out of the free hit. At this point minimise risk as much as possible. I am in a similar situation with 11 points lead but my runner up does not have freehit
I have 2 teams just behind me. I know i'm going to get Havertz to block one, I think the other might get Salah so tempted by Son to Salah also for a -4....

Gw16 I was 1.8m, fought my way to 160k (if only I had gone gvardiol instead of ederson on wc I would be top 100k).

Who to bench out of isak and jackson
I personally think goals scored from penalties should be worth 1 or 2 less points, or just make goals from open play worth an extra point. That could/should help things a little. Wholesale changes aren't needed imo.
Gordon to Olise and Captain him for a final day punt with Isak on the bench for me. 3-5-2.
I think the game relies too heavily on captaincy and that’s why it gets stale because even if you go against the typical Haaland/Salah and it pays off, the next week when either inevitably return itll completely obliterate your rank, making the differential seem worthless. I honestly think 50% of total points would be better (rounded up if the number isn’t whole) or make it so you can only captain a certain player x many times per season to prevent people from mindlessly selecting the same players each week.
Should I -4 Gordon to olise and Bruno to havertz need 20 points to catch up to mini league leader

I agree with Mark. Since last season and now this season the game player numbers have shot to 10 million and will only increase, so the template is getting stronger, backed up by the content creators. As soon as a content creator stream ends (or sometimes during) you can go on the price predictions website and see all the players talked about go up in price. When you get punished so harshly for going against the template, it makes the game boring. You basically have to play a template team all season to get in the top 10k and then (like this season) go rogue late in the season with a bench boost or free hit 38. When everyone has the same players and can't go against them or it will punish you, it makes it boring. We just want variation.
I would suggest either restricting 2 players per team or increase the prices of key players - make the likes of Palmer, Foden, Son, De Bruyne 12 million, the same with Watkins and Isak. Saliba and Gabriel should be 7 million. THAT would spice it up but it seems FPL just wants to make it easy to promote the game and get more players.
I have always thought that price changes should be based on performance (ie. each return increases your price by 0.1 in a week) rather than popularity (or content creator recommendation) that forces everyone to get the same players.
Even if the prices of the players change, it wont change the template problem you are referring to, there will still be a strong template. I watch Andy regularly and am very thankful for his input, but I don't rely solely on his own advice. I watch games when I can, and get my own sense of what players feel right to bring in. Thanks to that I am top 4k atm. If you need content creators every week to make critical decisions for your team, then you won't get very far. Template sounds boring sure, but you can't get around the fact that some players will be highly owned. No matter what content creators say that will always be the case. In conclusion, I understand your concern/frustration, but I doubt eliminating content creators will affect the way people pick their teams enough for it to make a big difference.
@@Lillbarca I value the content creators too but I think if Saka Son Salah Palmer Foden and De Bruyne are all 12 million, there is no way they can all be owned as part of a template. There WOULD be variance and people would have to make a choice to own two of them not five.

Try getting the best individual game week as opposed to the typical highest overall focused nonsense. This is way more fun as you can frequently go against the template and massively reap the benefits whenever it pays off, watching Van de Ven score on Saturday was so satisfying.
Surely if you go against template and get it right then you see massive gains? There was a guy in my mini league captained Palmer in 33 and flew up the ranks. Same as ever it's just choosing the correct players at the correct times and ignoring the crowd.
For info I WC in 26 FH in 34 so I went somewhat against the crowd and I'm top 5k

WC35 has been a disaster. I could have and should have held it until 36, don't think I gained a point against my old team in 35, but also the decisions on a few key players would have been different and I'd now have Gvardiol and Jackson (instead of - and I know how this sounds now - Aké and Højlund), wouldn't have Bruno, and would have 2 ft going into 38. It's cost me my main mini league (I was leading after 35) and possibly not just the win but also second place in that (which is a €270 loss in prize money) and likely my top 50k OR (was around 30k after 34). Well played.

Took a (-4) hit by swapping Solanke to Halland, Captaincy on Palmer "never disappoints", Bench Boost activated. Got a 100 points so far, still have 9 players with double game, wish me good luck
There's just not enough variables for separation. I know you don't like stopping consecutive captains, but how about maximum 2 players from each team.
Eze, Olise, and Mateta are nailed on for my starting 11 gameweek 1 next season
Liverpool (a), Arsenal (h) and Citeh (a) first 3 games though.
Number one improvement the game needs is captain to get x1.5 points rather then x2 points. Makea the lure dumb luck of captaincy less important then putting together a good team
