  • Here is a full 3-minute commercial showing off the Ford line of cars for 1960; Galaxie, Thunderbird and Falcon. Enjoy my Video Restoration and DES [Digitally Extracted STEREO] audio conversion of this vintage mid-century Ford commercial.
Just look at these high-falootin' Caucasians dressed up in their Sunday best in tuxedos & firs gawking and drooling over these gorgeous Fords! My! How TV advertising has changed since 1960!
    About the original Mono video:
The source was a blurry 360p CZcams video.
    About my DES STEREO Mix:
For the Narrator, I kept him centered with no further adjustments. For the Backing Vocalists, I separated them into 2 tracks, the Lead Tenors on the Left and the remaining Chorus on the Right, reverbing into their opposing channels. For the Brass & Reeds, I gave them a surround-sound effect, slightly Right-justified. For the Strings, I gave them an opposing surround-sound effect, slightly Left-justified. For the Drums & Bass, there was not much interpreted. I left them be wherever they were interpreted.
    Technical Information:
I used DeMIX PRO v5.1.0 to isolate the Narrator, Backing Chorus [L&R], Brass & Reeds, Piano, Strings, Drums and Bass into 8 separate tracks. I used SpectraLayers PRO-7 for stem cleanup. Adobe Audition was used for Dynamic Range recovery, EQ, Delay, Reverb and final mixdown. Sonic Studio’s Amarra Luxe Sound Processor was used for post EQ and upsampling. TOPAZ Video AI was used to upsale the video to HD [1920x1080p] and sharpen as well. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the final video.

Bob, that is fabulous! The video and DES are super! I hope you do some more car commercials from way back. I'd love to have that T-Bird!

Sammy, I want that-Bird so bad, I can just taste it! I remember seeing one in my old Chicago neighborhood when I was 5 or 6. My jaw dropped! Thanks for the plaudits, Sammy! I LOVE these classic car commercials! Glad you do too!

This was some coming out party for 60 models you. It looks good on my screen, I can only imagine what it was like on a 1960 Color set.

I know! A 3-minute slot! Ford paid dearly for that time! Oh, how I’d LOVE to have that T-Bird!!! It’s must have blown them away on a color set! Thanks for stopping by, Chris! Always appreciated! Glad you liked this one!

Now let's talk about Ann Miller and the great American soup commercial. Pure camp.

"Up to 30 miles a gallon." For us metric loving folks, that's 7.84 litres per 100 km, just slightly more than my humble 1988 VW Polo with 33kW (44 horsepower) guzzled. Not very likely.
I wonder. did they do commercials like this for the Edsel? In any case, great restoration work on this epic piece of consumerism.

Felix!!! Thank you for stopping by! Glad you enjoyed my video restoration and “stereoization” of this vintage commercial! Yes. 30 MPG was unheard of in that era. But then again, gas was only 19¢ per gallon [4¢ per liter] and we Americans were not concerned whatsoever about gas economy. Edsel DID put out similar commercials for their 1958-1959 models. Sadly, the 1958-59 recession killed the Edsel right from the start. By 1960, cost-conscious Americans no longer wanted those bigger luxury cars and it was hopelessly doomed, thus no advertising went into the 1960 Edsel. THAT’S why the Ford Falcon was born.

Great music and a great surround stereo effect. Where has this music come from?

Thank you, Paul. I just had to clean up this video and give it my signature “stereoization”. Where did the music come from? I’m sure Ford’s Advertising Agency subcontracted someone to score the commercial.
