  • The Volvo XC60 is a beautiful car with all the luxury trimmings you'd want at a great price point. Toss a usable plug-in hybrid powertrain in there? Now that's a car I'd buy.

Had mine a month now, same as this in thunder grey with 22" wheels and side runners. Absolutely love it, fast enough to be good fun and economical to not hurt your pocket. Love Volvo's.

There is no supercharger in the Extended Range T8's. No need for the supercharger anymore with the new extended range the take-off 0-60 are actually better than w/ the supercharger. The entire point of the supercharger was to give a quick kick off the line and then turn off as the Turbos kick in.

I have a Silver dawn 2022+ E.R. Polestar Engineered. 5 months ago I went in for an Extended Range, R-model, & got this, E.R. Polestar Engineered instead. Traded in a loaded 2020 inscription T8. 👍 My first issue was, I wanted the drive mode switch back down on that wheel, ... But now I've gotten very proficient at switching drive modes on screen, & they tell me a on screen shortcut button is in the works, via an Over the Air Update in the future. (We'll See) ... The lack of Car-Play Was a disappointment, At That Time. But Now, its Finally Here, & I think the Car Play is Better than my 2020 T8's C.P. (its Full Screen Now) & The Android system lets me choose which Map system to use, Apple map, or Google map. Now, what the dealer Didn't explained to me was how to change my the Olhins Dampers. After Reading the Manual..."Duh"...I figured it out. After a few trials, my Fav setting is #15. Settings are 1-23. As for My EV RANGE... Now in Summer with A/C On & driving around town staying under 50Mph. My Pure EV Range has been Constantly 37-38 miles. ... Now with A/C OFF & windows down, I get 40-41 Pure EV Range. (2 people in Car) ... So My verdict: "LOVE IT & ER Battery ! " ... Great Phev 😍 & Sound System = WoW!
Oh, FYI: As for the Charge Times, Almost Double Range, Also Means Almost Double Charge times. 🤪 🤷‍♀ (Not the fastest Charging time.)

Our 2023 model will be arriving mid October.
The format of two friends chatting excellent, with many useful comments emerging.
I will now request 21 inch wheels, if possible.
Thanks for a very enjoyable and informative presentation.

21:30 ... I charge my ER at 120 volts, and it takes about 15 hours from zero to full (so "overnight" if you run it to zero and go 15 hours overnight without driving). But, of course, most nights I'm not at zero to start with, so charging to full is generally not so long ... and I typically drive less than 30 miles a day, and my car can get roughly 40 miles of electric range, so I don't even need to leave with a full charge in the morning.

In addition to removing the Polestar they also removed the supercharger - the bigger EV and battery 'fills in' the torque hole when you put your fut down. I have a 2024 T8 Recharge Ultimate (also in Thunder Grey). 3 or 4 weeks in and I love it. Been driving in Power mode (ICE + EV when needed) or just EV for shorter trips. Goal is to break in the ICE - in Power mode I can manage RPM as it never shuts down - it is the priority drive mode. It's stupid fast even with me being a bit careful ... and pretty frugal on gas (petrol). EV mode also pretty good although colder weather driving is not the best test. Tried a Mazda CX-60 which looked good on paper but it had issues so I rejected it after 3 and a half months. The Volvo is a much better choice!

I own 2018 XC90 and really like it. The only complaint is that the ride can be harsh at broken or bumpy pavement. It is a dream on normal even road. How is the ride on XC60? I am considering replacement for my other car and I think plug-ins are the way to go for me. Offers good economy range and if you don’t charge you can still use it on gas. The real options for me are Volvo XC60 or S90 (love it) or BMW X5e. I think BMW rides better but Volvo has more bells at lower cost. I keep my cars for 8-10 years.

RAV 4 Prime, less money, more reliable, and the engine does not require Premium gas like the Volvo.

RAV 4 Prime is kind a huge disappointment, it doesn’t really go smoothly. It is fast yet not confidence inspiring. Had a 2021 XC60T8Recharge, excellent drive just needed better ev range at leadt. A huge letdown was and is a very slow charging time, 2024 model shall have 6.4kWh charger instead of max 3.6. MB GLE has rapid charging 20 min from 10% to 80%. I wish Volvo had it you could use it as EV (with current ev range and power) in the city and use fuel on the long trips. In addition breaks performance is increased with regenerative breaking, always drive in B mode.

@@DailyMotor I had the 2020 XC60 Polestar and now have the 2022 XC60 Polestar extended range which is faster and more fuel efficient. If you charge everyday you can get +500 miles on 1 tank of gas. Yes, not faster than a Tesla but more practical for road trips. Faster than a Rav4 prime, yes more comfortable and one of the best sound systems out there.

@@DailyMotor We have both the RAV4 Prime and the 2022 XC60 T8 ER (non-Polestar version). The RAV4 Prime comes standard with ACC; the Volvo does not (had to pay $2k+ extra to get the package with ACC). Our Prime came with 18-inch wheels, which are better than the smallest (19-inch) wheels you get on the XC60s for driving smoothness, safety, and expense to replace. The Prime gets about 10 more miles of all-electric range, and it has better non-map displays; it will show you useful diagrams in both the instrument panel and the infotainment screen depicting to which wheels the engine power and the electric power is going at any given time, and it'll show you the exact tire pressure in psi in a diagram in the instrument panel (none of which the XC60 will do), and it'll show you the odometer constantly (which the Volvo won't do). The XC60 has more claimed hp and torque, but the Prime starts off faster and will accelerate all the way to 86 mph in all-electric mode with your foot to the floor in EV mode (provided there's enough charge in your traction battery), whereas the Volvo will kick in the ICE if you do that (and it's not at all smooth accelerating with the ICE in either vehicle). Also, I've had my Google map freeze on me and the A/C go out due to the infotainment system in my month-old XC60, but never had any such infotainment problems in 1.5+ years of owning our RAV4 Prime. Yes, the seats are much better in the Volvo, and there's the optional 1-pedal driving which is excellent, but not much else is really superior, to be honest, in a vehicle that cost us nearly twice as much. The general exterior looks are good on both vehicles (no real plus to either one in that regard). I give the RAV4 Prime a plus in its roof, because we were able to buy one with an all-metal roof; we were forced to get a glass roof in the Volvo, which I'd rather not have (issues with breaking/cracking glass due to rock hits; hard to keep clean; known water leaks from bad seals; interior-heating issues due to sunlight in the summer; less safe in a roll-over).
