    The film is a film of genius. Warhol's powerful artistic instincts on vie at maximum level. Of course, a stunning recording of the VU at the peak of their underground fame..

    So wonderful to hear Mo's drums thumping as loud as they actually did. Usually they'd get mixed way down in studio recordings -- almost to nothing in some cases. I'll never understand why.

    I love to see anything filmed by Danny Williams. This is the definitive live version of White Light/White Hear. Cale' bass and the double guitar attack with Mo producing the eternal beat. Just incredible. Thanks

      @@steveshattah If this is the Boston Tea Party, then it is Cale's last appearance with the band. If it is Doug, I'm amazed at how similar his playing is to John's.

      Cale left in September'68. This is from December '68. Check out the Boston tea party show from January 1969 it's as good as this one but sounds a little better. Check out the guitar amp tape from Boston tea party March 15th 1969 but make sure you find the good sounding one and not the crap sounding one.

    The video is from early 66 the music is from late 68 long after John cale has left the band.

    Great, great version.Been listening to them constantly since 1980 never ever get bored. This is much closer to the sound of the Cale era than other recordings with D Yule. Has anything ever rocked this good bar Little Richard?

      @@eddietasker9110 Point taken, both totally rocking. In Bo's case a Man from the Future that built a drum monitor in the back of his amp and installed vibrato and distortion inside his self-built guitars before we even got to the 60's.

    John Cales playing bass on it but shows him playing Viola, actually this sounds more like the Doug Yule years but I could be wrong. But feels like Andy Warhol filming but not sure if editing was done much later. Confusing for sure.

      i think cale's last gig with the band was sept 1968 - this post says the concert recording was in december of that year, so i imagine it's yule on bass. the video collage predates this recording, and warhol and the group had parted ways shortly before cale was booted.

    This isn't 1968, and they certainly aren't performing WL/WH in this footage. This is why the recent documentary was disappointing, so little footage of the band playing.
