Russia’s representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, has justified Russia’s military operations under article 51 of the UN charter, which allows for 'self-defence'.
The council met as Ukrainian officials confirmed missile strikes on a number of Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv. Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has introduced martial law while urging to people to remain calm.
He added that he has spoken with US president Joe Biden, and told Ukrainians to stay home and to stay calm: 'The army works. I will be with you all the time. Stay strong. We will win because we are Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine.'

For example, if a bomb is dropped and 1000 random citizens got killed in each of the two countries, in the one with democratic election the number of completely innocent people would on average be smaller. No... There was an election in *2014* , overseen by independent bodies who declared it the safest Ukrainian election so far, in which the people chose to reject a Russian stooge (Poroshenko) in favour of a government that was not heavily reliant on Russia. Putin responded by annexing Crimea. Now he's terrified that they're seeking to further themselves from Russian control and he's putting a stop to it. He hasn't provided a single scrap of evidence to support his claims of "nazification" or genocide... Because there is no proof, because it's an excuse.
His invasion is because Ukraine dares to want to make it's own decisions as a sovereign nation. Zelensky kinda showed he wasn't a western stooge when he refused to be blackmailed by Trump (on *that* call, where he was asked to dig up dirt on the Bidens in exchange for military aid).
