  • Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya, has read aloud a text message exchange between a Russian solider in Ukraine and his mother before he was killed. "Mama, I'm in Ukraine. There is a real war raging here. I'm afraid," one message read according to Kyslytsya

    I’m impressed by his compassion toward the Russian troops. He is really getting to the fundamental issue, old men make war, and young people pay for it with their lives. Every time someone dies, Russian or Ukrainian, it’s tragic.

If the threat is the military forces of an entire country, then I congratulate you, we will have to neutralize the military throughout the country as long as they resist. No country in the world will defend itself and receive artillery strikes by itself, any country in the world, if the opportunity allows it, will conduct a special operation as Putin does. The people of Donetsk and Lugansk were very happy when Putin announced this special operation

    That’s horrible. I’m in AFROTC training. I can’t imagine saying goodbye for two weeks for Field Training only to be sent to war instead, no warning to my mother or anyone else about what I was really doing.

    For those wondering, it’s a common practice to not tell your soldiers what’s really going on, before an invasion or a mission. It’s to prevent people from accidentally/purposely releasing information. When the US jumped into Panama the soldiers were told that it was a training mission. My buddies dad was there, and said he realized it was real when they were handing out live ammunition instead of blanks, just hours before they got on planes.

      @@honestpetvideos9307 BTW - in Poland we have Parliamentary system. President has just representative or diplomatic role. Laws, and decisions are made by those who have majority in Parliament. If president/govt wants to pass some bill - it must be accepted by Parliament. There are no 'decrees' like in countries with system where President has more power than Parliament.

      2) it is not uncommon for a soldier to have a personal cellphone on deployment. you just have to maintain opsec while you use it on base, and have it off/not on your person on patrol. depends on deployment and coc whether you can have it in the first place, but not out of the question.

Russian soldier is texting mom, Russian soldier gets shot by Ukrainian, Ukrainian searches Russian body, finds phone, takes photo of messages, upload to internet. Simple concept. Or even, Date of Birth on dog tag, let's try that as a PIN for his phone - yep, that worked.

I pray for Ukraine, and I pray for the soldiers, both Ukrainian and Russian. This is a loss on both sides, we need peace not war, I hope this is resolved peacefully ❤️

      @@HSCHsc-hh9cu The real question is, why does Russia feel threatened by the NATO, a DEFENSIVE alliance? Why doesn't NATO, especially the Baltic states, also feel threatened by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO - exactly the same as the NATO) and use it as well as an excuse to invade neighbouring countries?
      Both alliances are open for countries. Ukraine wanted to join the NATO; that's their choice. Russia has nothing to say on that.
      What's next; India having permission to invade Pakistan if they join an Arabic alliance?
      The whole purpose of defensive pacts is just to defend countries from threatening/bigger neighbours.

      @@HSCHsc-hh9cu I think we're way past the point in which Russia can play the victim. Russia just invaded an ally of NATO... that means Russia isn't actually concerned about NATO. You don't poke a tiger if ur scared for ur life.
      NATO does not need to get any closer or grow in military capability to beat Russia in a conventional military conflict or assure mutual destruction in a nuclear war so Ukraine wanting to join NATO did not change much of anything for the security of the Russia.

      Well there is a reason for the war and the reason is NATO. I don't get why the people in Russia is against it. It is for their own country safety because if Ukraine become a member of NATO, America can put all their weapons and missiles in Ukraine which is just arm's rest from Moscow and this is why Ukraine invaded Ukraine. Now let's imagine a scenario where Mexico let Russia to be its partner and let Russia keep its missiles and other military equipment, do you think US will let this happen? Putin allow dialogue to go on from 2014, but US keeps on interfering with the Ukraine. Hence the only option. I want you to suggest other methods that Russia could opt instead of invading Ukraine........

    I am Czech. I was discussing what's happening now with my father earlier today and I mentioned that it seems that according to many sources a lot of the Russian soldiers during the first days didn't really know what they were getting into and that it was not a drill. My dad recalled 1968 when the Soviets came to my hometown (a small 17k town in the middle of the Czech Republic) and said that pretty much every low rank soldier he saw didn't seem to have a slightest clue where they were and thought it was just a drill... So apparently the Russian high command still does this. Recruit, go somewhere and don't worry, die...

      @@shiberu_7s if they didn't start a civil war over the fact that they couldn't get enough support to secede legally, then they wouldn't have any problems. They will have peace when they stop their insurgency. If they want to be part of Russia, then they can cross the border into Russia and get citizenship.

      Well there is a reason for the war and the reason is NATO. I don't get why the people in Russia is against it. It is for their own country safety because if Ukraine become a member of NATO, America can put all their weapons and missiles in Ukraine which is just arm's rest from Moscow and this is why Ukraine invaded Ukraine. Now let's imagine a scenario where Mexico let Russia to be its partner and let Russia keep its missiles and other military equipment, do you think US will let this happen? Putin allow dialogue to go on from 2014, but US keeps on interfering with the Ukraine. Hence the only option. I want you to suggest other methods that Russia could opt instead of invading Ukraine........

      In the previous war in Eastern Ukraine Russian soldiers were dying at a time when Russia was denying their involvement in the war. When some of these soldiers were captured Russia said these men went there in their spare time, they were vacationing in Ukraine apparently. Putin is a sick twisted F!

      The difference is the soldiers in America's war know they are going to war. These Russian soldiers were told they were on training exercises. American soldiers are also fully trained professionals unlike Russia which still uses conscripts. America uses professional soldiers who know they are heading into war whereas Russia sends these tricked young men into Ukraine.
