I’ve NEVER understood the Hollywood idea that “once the couple gets together, we lose heat! Or have nowhere to go!”. The idea is as silly as it is stupid. Life doesn’t stop once people get married. Hell, if anything, it gets MORE interesting. It’s just an excuse hack writers use. Hollywood is long overdue for new blood. Cause that excuse is just tired.

Clark Kent came first. I think Superman as a character is at his best when he identifies as Clark Kent and considers Superman to be the disguise.

Dean Cain and Terri Hatcher had the same chemistry as Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. The tension they created on screen was fantastic. They took great care of keeping the the movie characters alive. They still didn't copy them but took the relationship between Lois and Clark to the next level.

You nailed it, man. The show was just...pure in the heart which currently society drastically needs

Great retrospective. In my opinion that version of super Man is the best of. Dean and Teri have a amazing chemistry, that's why I still watch them.

I love Lois and Clark. I have also got the DVDs. I was telling my daughter this morning that in this version of Superman his greatest power is the power of his heart and that power is the one we all have.

Loved this show as a kid. 37 now🤨 happier times. where’d the time go

I was older than most of you guys, I was a senior in high school in 1993 and watched this back then and all through college. I remember TNT would even air reruns of the show while new episodes were on ABC, and TNT continued running reruns until 1999 or maybe even the early 2000s I believe. When you wanted to get out of writing that big paper or study for a test in 1997 or 1998, this was the show to go to, it was on a rerun somewhere.

I was born after the show had ended, but my sister got the full DVD set for Christmas when we were kids. I have fond memories of watching it as a child, and my brother and I have recently started rewatching it on HBO Max. I love this show!

Fabulous review, Great job. It's a show that was a big part of my childhood and still is today. I Met Dean Cain in Dublin Ireland in 2018. What a nice guy he is, This show really deserves a Blu Ray release, Hopefully we will get it considering Smallville is getting a blu ray release soon!

I adore this show! Lois and Clark‘s relationship develops into one of the more healthy, loving married relationships I’ve ever seen in a television show. And the focus on Clark is brilliant, pointing out that Clark Kent is who he is, and Superman is what he can do. He is intelligent, kind, and incredibly gentle. He is by no means perfect, but he is inherently good, and he’s literally powered by sunshine, so the upbeat optimism suits him.

Watching it again on Tubi. I was 9 when the show started airing. Good times. 😊

I remember when I was like 10 TNT would air back to back reruns of this show during the summer. I remember waking up at like 4 in the morning to watch them (: good times

I miss this show! I wish they’d come back to do season 5 - it could even be set in real time 30 years later, and they’d have a grown up son/daughter. Just to close things off.

Happy 30th Anniversary Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman!!!

  • @NickPiers

Fun fact: on the comics side of things, the creators intended for Lois & Clark to be married by around Superman #75. They were building up to that during the "triangle era" of the comics. When the Lois & Clark TV show went into production, the higher ups wanted to have synchronicity with the show and the comics. In other words, they wanted the wedding to happen simultaneously in the comics and the show.

As a 90s kid from the UK, this was my jam! And also my first entry point into Superman. Everything about this show reminds me of simpler times and fond memories! Thanks for the retrospective, it was like travelling back in time 😁
