Dawn, Big Girls Dont Cry, Walk Like a Man, Rag Doll. Frankie Valli, true legend.
The best ever!!
Bob Gaudio is the real genius, he wrote all the songs. He also produced albums for Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, and Roberta Flack. A body of work like no other.
@@razorback9926pretty sure the falsetto singing is what people care about. The words aren't that special but the voice certainly is
I used to sing Walk Like A Man to my son ❤ 🎉 in the 80s 😊
This song and Walk Like A Man are their best songs, and of course, this is my song!
I believe Walk Like a Man was their second hit right after Sherry
I also like My Eyes Adored You and Who Loves You.
The level of talent from The 4 Seasons is undeniable.
I can't believe how much I love listening to "Sherry" even now (2024)!
The problem with living through this period is simply that there were so many songs of this quality, year after year after year. Until that gradually stopped...
So very true !!
Stopped in the late 1980s
And never, really, returned.
There was a lot of healthy competition among artists then. A pretty face or fashionable clothes just wasn't enough. You needed catchy songs and the ability to play it all live without the crutch of electronic trickery.
Stopped in the mid to late 70's.
Who can forget that gifted voice of Frankie Valli and their many , many hits throughout the years.
Walk like a man is another excellent one
It wasn’t just Frankie Valli. The other important member was Bob Gaudio who wrote the song. They were the backbone in the band. When Gaudio retired from touring, then it became Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I think it was after 1970. You should react to Oh What A Night, Walk Like A Man, etc
Frankie was king of the Falsetto voices . Amazing and legendary group. So many hits Harri ( Enjoy)
Ah...
Now you're hitting the classic Frankie Valli.
Yes!!!! 😀
Oh, what a night, is one of my favorites.
Music from the golden age of music
There is a Broadway play about them, Jersey Boys. It was later made into a movie.
December 63 (Oh What A Night).
The man with the bass voice is Bob Gaudio (the tall man on the right in the image on the video). Gaudio wrote many of the hits that the Four Seasons had including this one.
Brilliant song and great reaction, Harri ! .. You just can't go wrong with Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons .. So many top quality songs, and THAT voice of Frankie's is just a killer .. It makes you stop what you are doing and just get lost in it .. You said you already know Big Girls Don't Cry, so now that you've heard Sherry, your next hit MUST be Walk Like A Man .. Cheers, Wayne
The world was gobsmacked when this song appeared. I was too. 1962 was a very good year for me.
I had the great pleasure in seeing The Four Seasons twice in the middle 60's here in NYC. My favorites are "Candy Girl", "Big Man In Town", "Dawn", "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You", and "Oh, What A Night".
I remember cranking the volume up and singing along to this record in my room many many times in my teens. This song was already pretty old by that time, but I just LOVED trying to keep up with Frankie's high notes. A lot of times, I had my headphones on while I sang, and I can only imagine how awful I must have sounded to my family members. Hahaha!
You must react to Rag Doll by them next and Big Girls Don't Cry
I count myself fortunate that I was alive when this music was new.
Along with "Sherry," my favorites are "Dawn," "Ronnie," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
And I'll add "Marianne." But "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" is probably my favorite, though I love them all.
I love this song...those were the days !
Another good one Harri. This group had so many hits. Check out “oh what a night, December 1963”came out in 1976. Great song
One of the best songs about losing one's virginity...
Other songs like "Walk Like A Man", "Rag Doll", "My Eyes Adored You", "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", "December 63 (Oh What A Night)" and "I've Got You Under My Skin".
No artist had more singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 1960s than Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Not Elvis. Not the Beatles. Not the Rolling Stones. Not the Beach Boys. Not any Motown act. No artist charted more singles in the '60s than Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Stone cold legends. And amazingly, Frankie still has that falsetto -- at least as recently as the last videos I've seen of him just a few years ago. That's one voice I would never have predicted would stand up to Father Time.
This was a number one hit in the US for five weeks. I love the song and the nostalgia it brings me today.
We all cha-cha-d to this back in the day. If it’s playing in the UK- don’t miss the live show “ Jersey Boys”. It’s pure joy.
The last time I heard this song was karoke night in a bar in Tombstone, Arizona. My sister had gotten married earlier that day, and it just so happened there was a biker convention that same weekend. Well, this 250 lb middle aged biker wearing a leather vest got up and sang "Sherry". He was so good, hit every note, his falsetto was spot on, knew every word by heart, and the whole bar was amazed!
Thank you for always mentioning us grannies & grampas. This is the music we grew up on & it's a joy to see younger folks getting into it. And a heads up...we aren't your grannies' grannies anymore!
If you like him give a listen to Lou Christie
Yes, Lou's "Lightnin' Strikes"
Valli had a wicked set of pipes....
The best
Just love that voice! Never get tired of hearing him sing. Such a classic( goat)!!
yea.. it's smooth like silk, mesmerising... truly incredible.
Saw Frankie in concert just a few years ago. He still sounded great!
Sherry is a quintessential Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Exemplary for Frankie’s tremendous falsetto voice.
Frankie is excellent in the falsetto.
I believe he is still performing!
Love, love, love "Sherry"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Harri!
This was the 4 seasons first hit. I remember clearly when it came out. His falsetto was ground-breaking.
Now THIS is music!
So good! Song always makes me smile. Thanks for this reaction.
WALK LIKE A MAN
OH WHAT A NIGHT
Well at least I got to see Jersey Boys live. Fantastic show.
Another blast from my past😂😂🌺✌️
I always loved Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons. I was in my teens when they first hit the airwaves. Reminds me of those summer days at the Jersey shore. So many great songs.👍🏽👍🏽🌼
I had to come to hear this song, people have been singing this to me for so many years, each person thinking it is the first time that somebody was singing it to me. This is actually a very good song, thank you for reacting to it.
Lol . Yes you would have too . Sherry. I have sung Michelle and lola to girlfriend's.
Sherry you're a star!
I have just had “The Twelve DayS of Christmas” sung at me so much, I just make the comment first. And then there’s the family…. 😁
@@lesliepartridge9895 Ha! I feel your pain! There are 4 Sherry songs so I have gotten so much of each.
It probably does get old after a while. I feel y'alls pain. I was REQUIRED to stay away from any woman named Barbara, because my name is Ken
What a voice. Their sound was was ahead of their time
I named my oldest daughter Sheri because of this song.
Their best song is "I've got you under my skin"....some of the best musicianship EVER!!
Excellent song Sherry!!!! Thanks for reviewing it, and you are so right it is a beautiful sounding song by the one and only Four Seasons.
Their first huge hit !!
I tend to lead towards "Big Girls don't Cry" and "Can't take my eyes off you"
Check out The Four Seasons' song called Opus 17. Of their long & great catalogue, that's my favorite!
Yes!!! “Opus 17 (Don’t You Worry ‘Bout Me)” is their most awesome song by far!
Harri, give "I've Got You Under My Skin" a go ... maybe Franki's best all-around performance ... plus it's almost 4 minutes long :)
All of Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons is timeless.
OMG
I love this kind of music.
Can't take my eyes off of you , is classic
I was a grade schooler when they were popular. My mother had all of their 45's.
Hi Harri, in 1962 American Bandstands Dick Clark first played this song and declared; "This will be a big hit".... I had the 45 within the week the best $ .79 cents spent. Still got the record too!
A very famous group before our time! Haha
Take a trip down the Four Seasons rabbit hole. You won’t regret it!
You say at the beginning of your reaction that you remember where you were when you first heard a particular song. I remember first hearing Sherry when I was in Junior HS. A bunch of us were hanging out under a street lamp just after the sun went down. I had a big crush on one of the girls we were with. Great memories. Great reaction.
They had so many hits! They had a 70's hit called "Who loves you". One of my favs!! Also ..".Oh What a Night" from '76 I think. Great tunes you'll love!
I do know a Sherry named after this song and a Diana named after same by Paul Anka
Another really enchanting voice is Ronnie Specter, alone or in a duet
Thanks to my mom I grew up with Frankie Valli. I still love this song now. 🥰✌️
I am almost 68. They were my first favorite band. I went to summer camp around 1964, and every time "Rag Doll" came on the radio my counselor made us all stop what we were doing to listen to the song. That and "Dawn" were my favorites back then.
Harri, I was 13 when this song came out . . . which means that as I am listening to you reacting to this song, I am now 71. Absolutely LOVED The Four Seasons ❤ and, especially, Frankie Valli, for sure! And always have loved them! I think I've watched the movie, Jersey Boys about 100 times! Please, please, please react to more Frankie Valli. Some of my favorites are Opus 17, Rag Doll, Walk Like a Man, My Eyes Adored You, Let's Hang On, Beggin' along with many, many others! 💖 Please play some more soon! 🙏
Gotcha! I'm 77. Were we lucky when it came to great music, or what...
This brings back memories.
I love most Four Seasons songs 😁
Frankie Valli really had a high voice in the 60s ❤
Give a listen to their tune" Who Loves You" from the 70s, one of the 4 Seasons last Hits- they go out with a Bang on this song!!!
We in NYC love Frankie. He is a staple in Italian restaurants, being that he was Italian and from New Jersey, just across the bridge. Amazing voice. Great music, and songs.
It's an oldie but a timeless one. Still cool listening to it today.
The thing that sets Frankie Vallue apart is that he can go between his regular singing voice and then slide up and down his falsetto register like it's nothing. Very few singers (even the really good ones) can do that. He has the best falsetto, bar none, in my book.
i'm so glad that i grew up in that era...
These guys are so good they did a Broadway play about them!
So I was 12 years old in 1962 when i first reacted to "Sherry". This why these reactions are so great! To see folks react the way we did back in the day! Guess that defines timeless music!
Loved Him and the 4 Seasons.
This number one hit from 1962 was still going strong well into the seventies, so much so that to this day hearing it reminds me of the girl named Sherie whom I had a crush on when I was ten. If this is your first taste of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, check out "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" from 1967. The horn line that kicks off the later bridge in that song defined a signature sound in music in the late 60's early 70's, almost like the last blast of the big band sound from the 30's.
I'm named after this song. My Momma loved this song.
I can almost hear this song being sung acapella on a Brooklyn street corner on a hot NYC summer eve.
Great harmonies! 👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤
Suggested related video: Billy Joel. 🎹Uptown Girl. 👩🎤 This is a tribute to Frankie Valli. 👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤👨🎤
Love them
So good!! Frankie Valli also sang the title song "Grease" for the movie Grease if you haven't already responded it. It was written by Barry Gibb too. Love his voice!
One of a kind . The band was and is still amazing .
Great beat u can dance to! I was a Valli impersonator at 8 yrs old. A terrific oldie. Thanks for playing it Harri! You get better everything I listen it
You’re quickly becoming one of my favorites! Thanks for your great content.
There was no voice correction back then. Good chance this was recorded on four tracks, eight at the most.
Frankie Valli was the voice of the era. Check out the band "Sha Na Na".
When you get a chance watch the movie called Jersey Boys. It's based on the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Clint eastwood-directed the movie The Jersey Boys
My favourite is working my way back to you . It was covered and was a hit again in the 70s .
ALWAYS LOVED THE FOUR SEASONS WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE JERSEY BOYS😊
i certainly wasnt into these kinds of songs in my younger days, but they are sounding better to me now heheh
i was young when this song come out and i enjoyed it every time it played
I remember roller skating to this as a little kid at the roller skating rink!
Think it was couple years ago, my friend and I got in a heated battle. He tried convincing me that Adam Levine of Maroon 5 had a much better falsetto than Frankie. I had to finally prove Frankie was the superior by setting my phone to play Frankie singing Big Girls Don't Cry and his phone played Adam singing Moves Like Jagger. Frankie overpowered Adam convincingly. Quite an experiment.
Adam Levine is good but is no way a Legend like Frankie Valli
Harry you must listen to "Swearin To God" an absolute Monster Disco song when he was solo. An absolutely unreal song with amazing instrumentation. You will be out of your mind when you hear this.
'Let's Hang On' is my Favorite
yes. I was called Sherry! Loved it
I remember hearing this song when i was about 11 and fell in love with it, they have several hits though the 60's, one great freakin fantastic group 🎵
