When she told me she was hit by a police motorcycle I realized I was talking to Heather Mills, who was, at the time, married to Paul McCartney.

They didn't force characters like G'Kar into every single episode - but scenes he does appear in are rich and never feel forced or rushed. It really was an incredibly well scripted and produced show, there's nothing like it today.

Dang. Always this scene brings the wet works for me even after all these years. The trust and friendship these two had was such an amazing part of the show.
You can see how G´Kar learned to appreciate that anyone can be a friend if treated decently. (Was nice when he was teaching that lesson by bashing someone with his book), yet that somoone who should be "utterly trusted" might be a utter garbage.

Also played the one armed man, Sykes in the Harrison Ford remake of The Fugitive. Andreas Katsulas had a very long and amazing career especially on the theater stage. Seen a few clips from some improvisational theater he performed. Man was just awesome. I believe his training in this style is how come his on scene characters usually came across so defined.
He was also the "one armed man" in the Harrison Ford version of The Fugitive. Honestly blew my mind when I found out a few weeks ago, just like when I found out Peter Jurasik (Londo) played a side character in the original TRON. It's an amazing moment to recognize actors in the films of our childhood years show up again so many years later.

@@tjj300 For those wondering what the guys above are talking about - if you can't find it on youtube or elsewhere - here's a short description - G'Kar picks up the datacrystal, holds it looking at between his fingers it for a moment thinking - and my interpretation as I recall it was he almost couldn't believe it, then he switches his grip from tentative examination between thumb and forefinger to fully gripping it in a clenched triumphant fist, with a little exultant smile. It seems like a feeling of relief, release of tension, and even a thanks to the creator - he has NOT been lost or forgotten and he still has friends who will look out for him and his people. As an aside - It's one of those many MANY moments of Andreas Katsulas saying SO much with a simple expression - through mountains of make-up and prosthetics. He made it look so easy, but surely it was NOT.

I wish that this clip ran a few seconds longer. To the best of my recollection, it would have showed G'kar's considerable satisfaction from Garibaldi's little favor, since he realized that Garibaldi arranged for him to have an alternate route to smuggle his weapons without placing B5 at risk.
The scene was one of importance. There are many TV series that the writers don't know how to write, that never allow these actors nor these characters to truly evolve. While Londo never truly evolve as a character, G'Kar was one of the few that improved since the Babylon 5 movie: The Gathering. Andreas Katsulis was truly a consummate actor and very versatile. He'll be missed. While it's in HD on HBO Max, this series, along with the movies and reunion movies, really deserve their own Blu-ray release.

It's never the actions of your enemies that hurt the most, its the silence of your, so called, "friends", that hurts the worst... Michael knows this because he's human... because when the Minbari came for Earth, all Earths, so called, "friends" in League of Non-Aligned Worlds, that Earth saved from Dilgar, abandoned them to silence... only the Narn where willing to help the human even if it was at price.
Not disappointing people is a better route to success than most people recognize. When it does not work it’s due to politics... Which means it’s successful even in failure... Whereas people who are only interested in pleasing themselves typically don’t like where their behavior leads them and by that point they have disappointed most everyone including themselves... Honesty is a valuable commodity. The trick is recognizing when it’s real and when it’s not appropriate... And when it’s not appropriate is usually when it’s not real. Only honest people can navigate certain treacherous conditions. Honesty creates its own rewards.
This was a test, not just Garibaldi testing G'Kar's honesty, but it was a test to see what kind of a person G'Kar is. Is he a fanatic who might end up bringing us all down with him in pursuit of his cause, or can he be made to see reason? Turns out he's the latter, and that was rewarded with a show that if you're prepared to be reasonable with us, we'll do what we can to bend the rules for you. I wouldn't be surprised if Sheridan had some input in this conversation.
How Andreas was able to put so much emotion behind all that latex and makeup is a testament to how good an actor he was.

If you can get the script books.
Not in print AFAIK, and I'm sure no real fan would part with her set for less than $2000. And, yes, I do have the purple book.
And they are NOT FOR SALE at any price.
In a way, the Narn remind me of the Kurds. So when any of the character's showed loyalty and friendship to G'Kar, it chokes me up.
More scenes that prove the B5 was one of the best sci-fi shows out there.
Two amazing actors gone well before their time. Pains to know they’re both no longer with us.
Consistently the best scrip , heavy on philosophical and ethical dialog.
You'd have to go back to star trek tos first season to find B5s equal.
Two of the greatest sci-fi actors of the 90's. We miss you and are lessened by your departure. Thank you for so many hours of glorious entertainment. RIP to you both. May you and your families find eternal peace and thank you again.
Didn’t the guy who played G’kar also play Tomalok in TNG?
Yes
Thats Commander Tomalok, rank is important in Romulan culture.
He also played an alien Captain in Enterprise. His final Star Trek role 😢
Fun fact - the two of them were roommates for a while. Jerry had some funny stories about living with Andreas. The story about the ham was particularly funny...
"Great guy...but the cheapest sonofabitch ever." Gotta be one of the best stories ever!
Both gone 😔 but they gave us amazing scenes like this to remember them by
This show was so awesome. I am so disappointed in myself for giving it a pass when it aired but very happy I finally came to my senses.
We become ready only through the passage of time.
Gkar told me to tell you...
I think the character development on the show was better than anything else I’ve seen.
And that is just one of the reasons we adore Mr Garibaldi.
G'Kar and Kosh were always my favorite characters. Garibaldi really showed who he wasi. This episode. RIP Mr. Doyle.
Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9,where (and still are in my books) classic shows.Nuff said.
Babylon 5 was the superior of the two but not in all aspects.
@@lucielm I think DS9 had better CGI, or least CGI that aged better.
@@Janoha17 DS9 also had more cgi based around models than pure cgi that b5 had. I still love both.
And this is a example of why Garibaldi was always my favorite character.
My two favorite characters. So sad both are gone. But they can still bring joy to people's lives!
Man, the show is full of these little moments between the characters, and they're phenomenal.
these are some of the moment that helped him get on the road to redemption.
Great clip, but you cut it off about 5 seconds too early. We need to see G'Kar's reaction after picking up the crystal!
Exactly!
@@tjj300 For those wondering what the guys above are talking about - if you can't find it on youtube or elsewhere - here's a short description -
G'Kar picks up the datacrystal, holds it looking at between his fingers it for a moment thinking - and my interpretation as I recall it was he almost couldn't believe it, then he switches his grip from tentative examination between thumb and forefinger to fully gripping it in a clenched triumphant fist, with a little exultant smile.
@@logandarklighter you nailed it.
@@Zaluskowsky Thank you.
@@logandarklighter he was one of the few people who could actually handle a full face mask as well on the show. A lot of the Narn's and other aliens actors freaked out if they wore theirs too long.
The dialogue in this show is God Tier
Love this show. So much diversity in the people. Effeminate men and manly men, balding, cross-eyed, short, tall, fat, emaciated all side by side. Not everyone is a supermodel like Mass Effect.
Hey, Mass Effect was as close to a game of B5 we'll ever get.
The original 3 Mass Effect games were all directly inspired by Babylon 5.
@@alex_saint-matthews and a whole bunch of star control 2...
I wish that this clip ran a few seconds longer. To the best of my recollection, it would have showed G'kar's considerable satisfaction from Garibaldi's little favor, since he realized that Garibaldi arranged for him to have an alternate route to smuggle his weapons without placing B5 at risk.
An played out a bit further those routes and connections probably came in handy when it came time to fight the shadows directly and eventually earth.
One of the best moments in B5
He was so good and RIP Mr. Garabaldi
Welcome to what good sci-fi looks like.
1:55 My general rule in life . Rarely do people fail to live down to my expectations .
Such a great scene. Between these two.
You could feel G'Kar's unexpected excitement when he picked up the data crystal. Andreas Katsulas was utterly brilliant.
G’Kar was so good he made you won’t him and his people to win and stand tall.
god damn i love this show.
The writing in this show was good, and evokes emotions. That hasn't aged.
I teared up a little at the end.
I just watched a bunch of B5 clips. I almost forgot how amazing this show was. Feeling like it might be time to watch the whole series again. I have kept the DVDs in storage for a long time now.
Kevin H, LOL! I still have the whole series on VHS !
i get caught in a series of clips everytime i get one of them suggested too
- garibaldi firing the edgar industry heads
- garibaldi pwning future nazis
- i m death incarnate!
- be somewhere else!
- AAAAAH MR MORDEN!
@@Zaluskowsky Yeah lets copy one of the most cunning people ever basically. And lets not enable any security protocols.Brilliant idea.
People are going to spend so much time lamenting the past, that anything in the future is going to move on by and they won't even bother paying attention.
Jerry Doyle & Andreas Katsulas sadly missed :(
this is a show people should let kids watch despite the subject matter
Two great actors, made me believe again.
Hay !! We have 32000 cable channels that need filling! We could binge watch this show till the sun goes cold. Pass the pop corn.
Got rid of cable years ago due to lack of quality programing and too many commercials.
I have all of B5 on DVD in my collection and once in a while I do binge watch them.
Just one of many reasons I loved Garibaldi
I must have missed this episode... darn.
Even the little moments like this were well done.
Hey! He didn't pretend he lied to him after all!
God this scene is fantastic. I need to rewatch this show.
i agree it is one of the best scenes of the series
Shivers up and down my spine every dam time.
Two of my favourite characters in the show all we need is Marcus Cole in the and it world be fantastic :D
One of the stuff the human can teach the universe is the art of Smuggling..xD
Another great memorable moment from the amazing Babylon 5. Totally Awesome.
Garibaldi was an awesome character. The whole cast was also awesome.
DAMN I love this show!
Dam ! I miss this show .
It's never the actions of your enemies that hurt the most, its the silence of your, so called, "friends", that hurts the worst... Michael knows this because he's human... because when the Minbari came for Earth, all Earths, so called, "friends" in League of Non-Aligned Worlds, that Earth saved from Dilgar, abandoned them to silence... only the Narn where willing to help the human even if it was at price.
what a great show. too bad they dont make them like this anymore.
REAL MEN OF HONOR, damn cool.
These two actors are awesome
"We is my friend. The only one I've ever had that wasn't a Narn."
Being an honorable man is the greatest challenge a man can face.
Yet another moment that shows how awesome B5 is.
This interaction is very deep.
Well said I was thinking the same when I first clicked the link proper proper gutted
And it hurts when I realize that both of these actors have long since passed away.
Honesty is rewarded.
A lesson we all must remember
Garibaldi was such a softie. 😂
popcorn and cartoons anybody 🤣😂
Leaving a little bit of room for people to disappoint has saved my bacon more than once.
That moment when you've chosen right dialogue option in RPG game
This was a test, not just Garibaldi testing G'Kar's honesty, but it was a test to see what kind of a person G'Kar is. Is he a fanatic who might end up bringing us all down with him in pursuit of his cause, or can he be made to see reason? Turns out he's the latter, and that was rewarded with a show that if you're prepared to be reasonable with us, we'll do what we can to bend the rules for you. I wouldn't be surprised if Sheridan had some input in this conversation.
