We need more trees in the urban cities but no these politicians want more buildings, more roads, more bridges all creating even more heat during these dry arid season.
We need more of those Arroceros Parks, safe havens with lots of greenery, where people can stay and cool off from the sizzling summer heat.

We own a small store here in the Philippines and unlike other months this summer made it harder to sell our own home made ice blocks because our freezer takes forever to freeze them unlike other months and demand is very high. Before we only sell 12-15 Ice blocks now it's 20, it can be more but that is the maximum number that our freezer can make for the day. I also learned from our customers that other small stores are also having the same problems even to stores that have ice delivered to them because if it is not late those deliveries may not come in that day.

I lived in Kuwait for over 10 years. The first time I arrived there was August, the peak of the summertime. It was extremely hot at 50°C +. Dang! It was like we were in an oven. The air was so hot like a hair dryer air that dampens into your face. Although it's very hot there, some things I've noticed, it is dry, it is not humid, the air outside smells good. It's like a roasted food, veggies, herbs, and spices. I am not sweating and the heat is bearable because it's dry unlike in the Phillppines and the rest of Asia are with very high humidity that makes it worse and unbearable.

The "businesses" the reporter covered are ambulant vendors, they're unregistered. The woman she interviewed is a scavenger who lives in the street. They're people who refuse to avail of government housing relocation.
Temp yesterday peaked at 38C in Metro Manila, heat feel is higher. Don't know where she got 48 but Dagupan City outside of Metro Manila recorded the highest heat feel at 47 yesterday. You can check the weather bureau.
We have a lot of weather related issues in the Philippines, reporters should get facts straight and dig deeper - not just show the low hanging, obvious stories that someone outside the Philippines will take at face value.
