I agree, the song is magic in itself like most stuff that came out from the Bee Gees brothers. In Sweden where I grew up, Aliens version (Alien = Swedish band from Gothenburg) was a huge hit when they had their take on this in 1988.
I like to listen to Tommys vocals at the end of the song. At the same time his voice was sweet and raw... - The rawest version I heard of this song in fact!

So awesome.... Graham Bonnet is the singer of the original song from the Marbles in 1968. Maybe better known as the singer of rainbow. "Since you been gone" and "All night long" were two hit singles with him. And so the hint of Tommy with the rainbow becomes clear. 😊
