If you don’t want to spend hours on cutting carrots and potatoes just use a grater, it works fine with a german kind of potato pancake called kartoffelpuffer.
BUY HIS BOOK PEOPLE! These pancakes are out of this world, Aaron has some of the best sauces I have ever used. Making Tteokbokki Sunday, had Korean hotdogs two days ago. I love these recipes!
Hello from Chicago! I just wanted to let you know that I made this dish on a whim 20 minutes after I finished watching the video and it was awesome! I used fresh ingredients from my garden and my wife and daughter love them. I took your advice and made them smaller for the first time and I personally ate three. Thanks a bunch for Friday night meal idea
I always like Claire's comments on the food. She doesn't just taste it and say ooh, yummy. She tells about the flavor balance, the texture, the aroma - why it works. I've learned a lot about Korean food from her commentaries.
For anyone new to the channel, hearing Claire review the food is always my favorite part. Stick around to listen and buy the book if you're considering any Korean dishes!
I miss this channel’s videos. I was half expecting Aaron to say “this is how I survive” 😂. This is definitely right up my alley, everything about the chives, green onions, carrots and chilis is just heavenly combination. And the sauce too! Claire’s suggestion for the Korean Rice white wine combo is interesting. Not shying away from that for sure.
These look absolutely incredible. I have a few things I am cooking over the next week first, but I am most certainly adding this to the list. I love the fact that they are mostly vegetable, and not a lot of batter. The appearance is quite pleasing.
Maaaaan! Jeon is a favorite in my house! Every now and then I must stop everything I am doing because my parents ask for some. This recipe is glorious, I am sure they'll love it too!!
This looks wonderful. I have been looking for light summer meals and this looks perfect. Clair looked so happy😁. I actually do have Korean pancake mix but finding the garlic chives may be a problem. Nice to know I can use our love green onions👍. Hope you are both having a lovely summer❤.
My grandchildren love Korean Veggie Pancakes!! We add tofu for a protein and it’s delicious!! Thank you for sharing a new dipping sauce recipe to our pancakes!! Love from Kelowna, BC CANADA
Very simple, easy and delicious thank you Aaron for the great recipes. Quick tip: If you want both sides to be crispy, add a bit of oil on the other side before flipping otherwise I found the other side sort of gets grilled and isn’t as crispy.
I enjoy watching you both in your videos, keep up the good work. I've learned to make different sauces and created some of my own fusion meals using "just what I've got". Thank you so much, your book is a great reference source for creating a lot of my own "fusion" dishes. Again, many thanks.
I sometimes make this. I will try your recipe as I never thought to add potato, or chicken boullion powder. I'm sure your recipe will be more flavorful than what I've been making.😊
Thank you for the tips on using just enough batter and to swirl the pan. I have been using too much batter and getting soggy pancakes, so your example will save my next yachae jeon :D Thanks, Aaron and Claire!
Tough to find garlic chives where I live sometimes. I'm going to try shredding green onions to see if I can get a similar effect next time I make mine. They didn't cook down very well last time.
I most favorite food is Korean food. Try to cook some but almost always ends up, because I am missing some ingredient. Has only Korean red pepper.....but watching you, you always give us hint what we can use instead of the original ingredient..... love your channel , left all those otehr korean channel and since I discovered yours, I am cooking anly by your excellent explanation......thank you Aaron, you rock!!!!
In cooking, how well could perilla or shiso stems do if used like cinnamon sticks & alongside Amur cork berries such as in a dessert or a warm spices cooking setting?
hey Aaron I have a question about your 15 minute Japchae. Can you substitute shrimp as your protein? I like pork but I also like shrimp😁. I was just wondering. Thank you.
The best way to find out is to try it yourself. If I would add any meat, I would fry it first to be sure it’s well cooked and then add it to the mixture.
I can’t open the description box from my phone because one of the links overlap with “more”. Thus, when I press “more”, it only tries to send me to one of the websites ://
You could probably get away with a rice or chick pea flour. It's honestly only there as an ingredient to bind. Maybe append an egg to the batter recipe to make sure it binds proper? Might have to experiment a bit, but that definitely seems doable.
i just those translations, claire talks for like 3mins and it results in "its perfect" im wondering... aaron, just what are you translating here? only what you want us to hear? :P
Also, let the pan get heated completely to avoid cold spots. A gas stove top will work better than an electric. Even better if you have a flatiron/griddle

"Make sure to cut them as thin as possible." And now you lost me Aaron, for I have the dexterity of a sloth covered in molasses.
Just make sure you have a good sharp knife and be careful. I am slow too but you can do it👍.
There are a few tools which might help you. A mandolin or maybe a food processor with a slicing blade?
If you don’t want to spend hours on cutting carrots and potatoes just use a grater, it works fine with a german kind of potato pancake called kartoffelpuffer.
Get a mandolin veggie cutter
Don't worry bout iiiit!

Fresh ingredients from your garden? That sounds even more fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful feedback! 😍

The solution for those who do not like eating fresh vegetables is to batter and deep fat fry the vegetables... 🤣🤣🤣 Nice work Aaron, those look good.
Guys.. I got an electric pizza maker for giftmas. I use it to cook Jeon. Just flip it briefly to get both sides golden brown!
That is genius
Great idea! 👍❤
I’ve made this in Korean class a couple of times before but was craving it again so this video came out at the right time
OMG.. my mouth was watering when she added the sauce to the pancake… ;-)
Tell me about it! 🤣
I love you guys! Can’t wait to make this. I bought your book it’s great!!! ❤
Thank you so much! Can’t wait for you to try it! 🥰🙌
My Korean wife adds a small amount of egg to the mix as well.

I got the book, so many great recipes in it, including sauces you can use for anything. Korean food is making me love vegetables again!
These are fantastic.
My sister in law makes these.
Oh my goodness. These are SO good! The sauce is delicious and the pancakes are amazing. Great way to eat are your veggies.
🤣. Claire has deep feelings for this pancake.💕
Tell me about it! She really enjoyed it! 🤣

I think and egg beaten well( a sieved) is also a well needed binder! I love your cook book!
It is a piece of Art!💗
I'm glad you said that. We have so many veggies right now because of the garden. And we have the mix. I might have to make it for lunch tomorrow.
Sounds like a perfect plan 👍

My mouth was watering as Claire was tasting the pancake and making all that noise
This is what I mean when I say, “Why would a vegan want to make their vegetables seem like meat when they could make them be delicious as vegetables?”
What's wild is that in the US, chives are the more expensive/fancy option!
That looks amazing 🤩
Yummy!! I love jeon
Kimchi, veggie and potato
Very simple, easy and delicious thank you Aaron for the great recipes.
Quick tip:
If you want both sides to be crispy, add a bit of oil on the other side before flipping otherwise I found the other side sort of gets grilled and isn’t as crispy.
This is one I am definitely trying. So pleasing to the eye also.❤
You're gonna love it so much! 😍😍😍
This, Korean bbq and Japchae has to be my fav Korean dishes!!
I just simply love your cooking.keep up your good work.Bye from Singapore...
Thank you so much for watching!

I finally made these pancakes today! It was delicious!! 😋Thanks for the recipe! 😊
My pleasure! So glad to hear that you enjoyed it! 😆👍
@@AaronandClaire They were so good that my husband ate a lot. The sauce was also good!😊
Hey! Aaron and Claire. Off subject, but I had Kimbap for the 1st time the other night, and I'm hooked.❤😋
So glad you enjoyed it, Shannon! 😍
I sometimes make this. I will try your recipe as I never thought to add potato, or chicken boullion powder. I'm sure your recipe will be more flavorful than what I've been making.😊
Hope you like this one better! Enjoy! 😁🙌
@@AaronandClaire I'm sure that I will. :-)
@@AaronandClaireIt was so good ...even the recipe for the sauce! My husband ate a lot!
Beautiful work as always.
Even though I've got the recipe in your book I still love the videos and I was craving pancakes the otger day!!! ❤
How can someone slice those carrots and potatoes so thinly 😱 I don't think I ll be able to get that level of precision even in my next life
Could I use a vegetable peeler on the carrot and potato? Also thinking broccoli, even thin sliced stem, would be wonderful here.
Yes, you can! Don’t worry about it! That will be fantastic too! 👍
9:55 She described something called Haemul pajeon.
식당처럼 바삭바삭하게 만드려면
반죽을 적게하고 건더기 위주로 해야하는거였군요!?
맞습니당! 😍
Ah I wish I could eat this from mobile screen trustttttttttttt me I love it
I think and egg beaten well( a sieved) is also a well needed binder!
And that’s exactly why Americans still dying of heart disease at a precarious rate. Just go eggless for less cholesterol.
Thanks Aaron for the demo. Can i use plain flour to replace the ap flour? Is AP flour , self raising flour?
So making this, thank you so much.
A cookbook!!! 🥳 congrats!
I am vegetarian so I will make the batter without the beef or chicken powder. It looks so very beautiful and healthy and delicious. Thank you.
There are some really good vegetable stock cubes/powders you can use if you want that extra touch of flavor.
Really new for me easy and tasty
I made a big batch of this morning and will be snacking on them all day. 😋
Can we come over?! 🤣😋
Have Claire cook something for you FROM SCRATCH! Rule is no instant anything. Stock or sauces are ok. Must have at least 3 ingredients.
Thank you for the tips on using just enough batter and to swirl the pan. I have been using too much batter and getting soggy pancakes, so your example will save my next yachae jeon :D Thanks, Aaron and Claire!

What happens if you can't eat spicy foods? What do you recommend for another flavor?
Tough to find garlic chives where I live sometimes. I'm going to try shredding green onions to see if I can get a similar effect next time I make mine. They didn't cook down very well last time.
CLAIRE, Please share a link for the Rice Wine? THANK YOU!
Looks delicious

I’m liking the choice of knives you use, Do you have any recommendations?
I just ordered the book if it's anywhere near as good as your channel it'll be great!
Aaron, can we make it in an airfryer?
In cooking, how well could perilla or shiso stems do if used like cinnamon sticks & alongside Amur cork berries such as in a dessert or a warm spices cooking setting?
Would it work if you add dipping sauce to pancake mix before cooking?
Awesome recipe chef , please show torimeshi recipe japanese and honetsukidori recipe japanese, please 🥺 please please please please
Your knife 🔪 skills are amazing 🤩 👍🏻
Can I use wheat grass in these pancakes without messing up the entire batch?
If you use gluten free flour, do you have to make any adjustments?
Appetizing!
Nooohhhooo, not fair!!!!! It is hundred C degrees out there, literally melting, and I just had my dinner, but I WANT TO MAKE THEESE!!!! 😅😅😅😅😅
Love you! Funny and informative!
Thank you so much for watching and this sweet comment! 😁
My favorite easy snack. I'm torn on if i actually like the pancake as much as i just need a vehicle to get the dipping sauce in my mouth
Can we use cabbage, capsicum ??
hey Aaron I have a question about your 15 minute Japchae. Can you substitute shrimp as your protein? I like pork but I also like shrimp😁. I was just wondering. Thank you.
I’ve never tried it but that sounds fantastic too! 👍

This looks amazing!! Get in my belly!! 😅😂
If we were close to a vegetable market
Love me some CLAIRE!
Thank you 😁👍
What kind of knife do you use?
Can I use zucchini instead of garlic chives or green onion?
Yes! That would be awesome too! 😍
Just purchased your new cookbook!!

Shrimp? oh yeah - or some bacon with a fried egg on top 🙂
Should finish your video at 7:19. More people will like it.
Woooooooow a new dish
How do I become a taste tester ❤😂
The "Don't wery boud iiiit" really does give reassurance when you feel like you're Messin' up the recipes
YUMYUMY7M!! Just ordered you cookbook. Thanks to you and Clare your deliciously f7n videos!😂❤
i just those translations, claire talks for like 3mins and it results in "its perfect"
im wondering... aaron, just what are you translating here? only what you want us to hear? :P
No eggs added?
This is so hard to cook because the edges are always over cooked and the middle undercooked. Im going to shake the pan like you did.
Yay! Can’t wait for you to try it! 😆
Also, let the pan get heated completely to avoid cold spots. A gas stove top will work better than an electric. Even better if you have a flatiron/griddle
We don't have garlic chive in Poland 😢
Minced garlic could work.
I have seen people tried wild onion. Equally Delicious!
He also said green onion/scallion would work
Ok, what if I don’t have Korean pancake mix?
3:20 shows you how to make the batter from scratch ._.
😋 ❤
It's not the taste that keeps me from eating veggies. It's the oxalates...
