What is Mixed Reality?
It´s a way to record and show game play to serve a better understanding of how it feels to use Virtual Reality. It uses a green screen to later blend out the room you are playing in and instead blending in the virtual environment life or in video editing. So it´s only a way to show to the viewers, while playing i can´t see my wheel and real hands. So it´s not like Augmented Reality, which will maybe come in a few years and will look similar.
If you wan't to support my channel, you can do that by disabling the ad-blocker if you have one or by donating the lowest amount you wan't via this link paypal.me/MixedRealitySR but don't forget to place a little suggestion in the message, I will try to make it happen.
How you've recorded?
Real life footage is recorded with a Garmin Virb Ultra 30
In-game footage is recorded with OBS Streamlabs
My specs:
Fanatec Podium DD2
Fanatec Podium Steering Wheel Porsche GT3-R
Fanatec Advanced Paddle Module
Fanatec Clubsport Shifter SQ
Fanatec Clubsport Pedals V3
Fanatec Clubsport Handbrake
Sim-Lab Cockpit
Valve Index VR Headset
AMD Ryzen 3900x
Nvidia RTX 2080ti - Hry
I love the little wave at the spectators
Very entertaining as always. Shame these videos get so few views, the algorithm seems to hate your channel or sth ^.^
Yeah the algorithm sharing it broke down massively which is als the reason I'm not really doing it that much anymore. Did gave it a try with weekly videos for a while this year but it had no effect at all and sometimes even negative.
It’s possible interest in VR is down for now until some big steps in comfort and affordability can be made?
It's already quite affordable, a Quest 2 costs less than most wide screen monitors or especially triple screens. Also didn't find them too uncomfortable. Especially the index. I think it's more resolution, fov, less resource hungry and better integration into games.
@@MixedRealitySimRacing I agree with you, just trying to understand how you can have 1.5 million views then go down to just thousands? To me it says the interest in the concept is there but people want it to be much easier/cheaper? I'm not sure? I think if the HMD is like wearing ski goggles and costs $100 of course we would have millions more using it but I don't know if that can happen any time soon. P.S. I'm the guy that chatted to you about developing my Reality Blender tool (Not on FB anymore). I'm just thinking about the current state of VR and think its a pity it isn't taking off. I think the idea had lots of potential. It's very disappointing there isn't more interest I would love to finish the app :(
What a track!
Your channel is great inspiration for me to do mixed reality with cars, every day, every video I watch in your channel has something to learn from, thank you very much, this for me is a form of art, thank you :-)
Super underrated!
Just found your channel, my god man this is some awesome stuff! You have a new subscriber and I hope you get the recognition you deserve. Hats off to you sir.
That's some mean racing, well done.
This was amazing!
Fantastic as usual
Thank you
Nice!!!
Nice driving!
Thanks!
This shit looks bananas
It's a shame it can't be perfected so the reality doesn't shift from the game. I think it's partially the camera position but also the lens. Some games might have more of a fish-eye style POV for example so you'd need to apply a filter for that on your camera footage at least. Then there's the frame rate mismatch and light conditions with no moving shadows etc.
I see you don't post this stuff anymore and I understand why, so inconvenient. I appreciate that you did it so the idea perhaps can grow into better solutions some day.
lol nice ending .. btw , do you record the video in 2560/1440 or just the final render ?
I've recorded in 1440 but had to zoom in on the footage so the resolution was lower before rendering it in 1440p again
NIceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
You should take a look at the new vario xr3, amazing for this stuff
They sell the aero now for consumers, looks very interesting but when I tried the xr1 I wasn't as impressed and the aero seems to have similar issues with distortion. Overall the resolution is amazing but besides that I thin regarding the complete package with resolution and refreshrate the index is still the better option for me, especially considering the high price of the varjo
Foliage really looks great here. Were you able to get rid of the pixel shimmering in the foliage when in VR?
I had to reduce AA and pixel density for consistent frame rate so that wasn't perfect but acceptable. I don't notice such things much while being in the action
First of all. This looks fcking amazin good job😅 Insanely talented
But it needs another reason for people to watch if you wanna keep growing your channel. You need to move more towards mainstream simracing content and combine that with your mixed reality thingy and your could become allot more successfull.
I know but that's not really my thing
Great racing o would have hit a treee
Why Did you stopped with your Channel? :((((
There are a couple of reasons:
1. I have less time than I had back then
2. There is often not much new which I found interesting and unique enough to record. An AC2 would probably motivate me again.
3. Probably the biggest reason: I did some very high effort videos which took me a lot of time and dedication to make but they performed very poor and did only get very few views in comparison. This got more and more disappointing and did make me loose interest in taking the time and effort.
At the moment I have more fun driving for my self without the need to concentrate on content creation. Maybe with some cool, new and interesting wheel to use or sim to play I'll have a comeback for as long as it's fun to make
Thanks for caring
@@MixedRealitySimRacing I love all the mixed reality content you've made. It inspired me to mess around with mixing camera povs over racing games. You've done an incredible job pioneering this type of content. Shame it hasn't taken off in popularity yet. I recommend your videos to people I know who like racing/cars.
Thanks, that's nice to hear
Hi mate is awesome! Anyway which VR set is best for simracing? Thank you
Quest 2 is the cheapest but lacking comfort and sound without mods.
Reverb G2 is also still not too expensive, has great sound and resolution but lacks a bit FOV without mods.
Valve Index is overall the best for my taste but also the most expensive. It lacks a bit resolution but has the biggest FOV, more refresh rate options and works generally very well.
@@MixedRealitySimRacing interesting thank you for your opinion. I will be upgrade my rig in February..Should something be interestingly presented in a few months? should I wait for a better product?
@@michalmikus2103 a Quest Pro is rumored since a while and there is an event soon where they might announce it
So Codies/ EA bought the licence just to know a competitor out of the market without plans to make a DR3.0, 4.0 or a WRC 2021, 2022, ...etc?
They have the rights from next year on as far as I know. There is still a WRC game coming from the current devs
