Gotta love how the three movies in the series focus upon the classic martial arts concepts of body, mind, and spirit. The first movie focuses on Po's body and physically training him to become worthy of being the Dragon Warrior. The second movie focuses on his mind, where he must come to terms with his past trauma and find inner peace with who he is, regardless of his past. The third movie focuses on his spirit, where he has to find what it is that makes him, him. His identity as both the Dragon Warrior and as a panda are in strife as his spirit is lost and confused. Only when he accepts that he is both can he truly become the Dragon Warrior, in body, mind, and spirit. Props to Dreamworks for such an amazing series.

There are a few instincts of this in the real world. Ever heard of an ATM Machine? Well, it is actually a “Atomic Transmitter Machine Machine” because of this. (Transmitter may be wrong but close enough)
Funnily, those types of acronyms are labeled under a phenomenon called RAS syndrome, standing for "redundant acronym syndrome syndrome". Master Shifu isn't exactly an acronym, but it does have the same silly redundancy.
(also, ATM stands for automated teller machine, unless there's some sort of atom messaging device out there that I don't know about)

Oh, I REALLY appreciate that this isn't just 7 minutes of Oogway Ascends. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous piece, but it's the only piece of music from KFP that anyone seems to remember, when it has so much beautiful music to offer. Standouts are the inclusion of Hero from the first movie, Dragon Warrior from the third, and of course Kai's theme.
I absolutely adore Kai’s theme because it has such great symbolism. The rift is inspiration from Imagine Dragon’s song “I’m So Sorry,” which perfectly encapsulates Kai’s attitude as a villain.
He steals chi from other great fighters instead of harnessing his own, being unapologetic and confident. Imagine Dragons song is about how the person is unapologetic and will do anything to get to the top, with the chorus screaming “I’m so sorry” when they’re really not. The person in the song is on a high and nothing seems to be bringing them down, seeming like an overconfident hero that it feels villainous. That’s exactly what Kai is.
I remember being in the theater and listening to his theme and thinking it sounded familiar. I was happy to see in the credits that they were inspired by them when making his theme.
You can't leave out Kai's theme, it would be an unforgivable sin

Hans Zimmer and John Powell both did amazing work on the Kung Fu Panda series. Dreamworks has done some incredible stuff, but this trilogy is probably what I come back to the most.
This trilogy and HTTYD have incredible scores.

Hey I'm a silent listener for a year or two and just wanted to tell you that your work is amazing. I play in an hobby orchestra myself and sometimes when I we practice for concerts over and over again I like to listen to your amazing orchestral versions of great songs and imagine we would play also this kind of music.
You might be able to one day if you keep at doing what you want to do!
To describe Rush's music is akin to describing a cherry blossom in bloom, much like the one in that fantastic artwork. He stays consistent in quality and grows in skill, though my untrained ears cannot always pick up on it I'm sure. Particularly the way you orchestrated Oogway Ascends was done really well, with the huge crescendos and perfect use of dynamic contrast!

The Kung Fu Panda movies were always my favorite. I remember when I was little going to see the second one in theatres. Good memories, good music, and you managed to capture it all.
Yeah they were really good. I hope AAA reaches that level of design quality again. Maybe after the Revolution when we free all the animation studios from the bourgeoisie.
