  • Lost ignition key for 87 Jeep Wrangler which uses a standard GM column. These require "tear down" to remove ignition & make key or replace with new.
Don't do these often anymore ;)

Lots of negative comments for the best video I could find. I had lost key and this saved me a ton. Everything for my 93 was the same except for actually extracting the cylinder. On 91 to 93 you have to push a screwdriver in towards rear of cylinder to get it to release. Thanks a lot

Kris Kile thanks for the good comment :) we gave up long ago on worrying over this one, it will always live on as one of our most viewed & hated videos lol 😂 glad you got it!

Thank you! Our 94 4 banger YJ needed the multi wiper switch replaced. Tried to replace from the top. Impossible, removing the steering column was easier than I thought. Screws in the inside pointing up held the parts together. Only way to get to it was to remove the steering column $163 switch at Orilies. The first switch we got $100, but didn't fit. There are 3 switches for this year. Of course the one I need is the most expense.. sigh.

Jason that was a good video, I didn't realize how difficult it can be to get into an ignition lock.

Just completed a similar repair and this video helped me place the two contact assembly next to the lock retaining screw.
Thanks so much for the assistance.

I have two suggestions one is to invest in a light the other is to find a friend. Although I got the gist of what you were saying it would have made the video that much better

Dave Labine I never thought this video would pull in the views it did. It was a spur of the moment video during regular work hours. One day, whenever a customer needs it again I vow to do better ;)

Sweet video. I'm in the process of replacing my steering shaft on my 80 CJ7. As I was tapping the new steering shaft onto the spine in the steering column....the whole steering shaft inside the column moved inside towards the steering wheel?? Any idea on how i can get the steering column shaft back out?
