    Thank you Satpal Singh Ji for making such excellent videos about Sikhi in English. You have been the biggest contributor to my journey into Sikhi. I am by no means a perfect Sikh, but you making Sikh wisdom accessible in English has allowed me to make many more steps along the path.

      @@jassimarsingh6505 Of course not, but he has the expertise of experimental scientific research to methodically understand freewill. You can do your own research and learn more about Robert. You might be surprised to learn that there is little conflict in his ideas in terms of those expressed by spiritual leaders like Guru Nanak, Buddha and others.

    What im not quite understanding is if nothing is in our control and we have no freewill then why does sikhi encourage controlling thr 5 sins and making righteous actions? If everything is written and we have no freewill then surely thats not within our control then?

    • @vjagpal
      @vjagpal Před 4 měsíci +2

      If you think you are (have an illusion of ego), you have to play your part like an actor deep in character and fight the 5 thieves. because this will lead you to realize the truth of your ultimate existence.

    • @NiNa-jr7fp
      @NiNa-jr7fp Před 4 měsíci +4

      Valid question. My understanding is, if you believe yourself as a seperate entity, then you have to take all those efforts you mentioned. Then u accumulate good and bad karma
      But once you realise all is oneness and you are not a seperate entity, there is no I, there is no doership. You just exist.

      This is a really interesting question. I think the answer here is to remember that what is being explained by gurbani is the ultimate truth. It's the underlying reality of everything. That there is only oneness. Ek.
      That being said Maya has been overlaid across this oneness, which is why we have this sense of ego or individuality. And the game of life is about waking up from this individualistic view point to one of oneness.
      If you can achieve this 'awakening' then it's the ultimate prize of mukti (liberation) and it's liberation from this game and the illusion... returning the drop back into the ocean.
      However, while you're awakening ... or if you fail to do so... you're still a part of the game ...and while you're apart of the game you have to play your part.
      A good analogy I think is the movie the Matrix. Neo needs to wake up. While he is asleep everyday life is still everyday life and so he's accountable for his actions. But the ultimate truth is that it's all an illusion and he needs to wake up. Gurbani is our way of 'waking up'. And the reality is ... there is no you to wake up.
      Not sure if this helps.
      Dhan Guru Nanak ❤

    • @aransingh9140
      @aransingh9140 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @indy_singh hey thanks for that I think that definitely makes more sense than it did before and I like the analogy with the matrix!
      So from what your saying is it almost like we're in a game & whilst we're in the game the idea is to continue making righteous decisions and moral decisions to earn good karma. However, the main aim is to wake up and realise the life we live is an illusion & in fact we need to connect with God to achieve "Mukthi"?
      If so, then am I correct in assuming we do still have freewill whilst we're playing this game of life? Like you said you still have to play your part and i guess how I understand that is that we do have freewill within the illusion we're in?
      Because I feel like this video suggests we don't have any free will & I guess that's where I'm getting confused!! I'm also aware this is probably so deep for the average person to understand & hence I'm probably asking dumb questions!

    I wish you could answer me this. If God is everything and everyone and God is the only doer. Why is God doing child sex trafficking and other evil things? Or do you believe God only does the good things? And if so, how do you explain the evil things being done daily, if we are not the doers and we do not have free will?
