  • UPDATE: To everyone who asked about how to remove the clay from the candy mold, I apologize for not making it more clear in the video. It will come out of the candy mold just fine if the clay has been leached (which I have a video on how to do) and, as I mention in the tutorial, place it in the fridge for a few minutes. This makes the clay hard and you can pop it out of the mold. IF this does not work, try putting a little bit of vaseline in the mold and it should come out pretty easily:)
    This easy polymer clay tutorial will show you how to use a candy mold to create a sugar skull pendant.

    This is by far one of the best designed and prettiest polymer sugar skulls I've come across, so niiiiiice! Most others have no dimension and too much stuff added on them and kinda mucks em up, this is pretty cause it has hand painting and not to bulky. Ohhh so inspring TY!

    Love your sugar skull necklace! Would fine point sharpie pens work? I don't trust myself with a fine brush or tooth pick. Have you try them on painting on clay? Please make more videos with skull jewelry. Tfs

    What did you used for the little skill you said porcelain someting where do you get that and how does it look like

    • @TheHandMadeDaily
      @TheHandMadeDaily  Před 10 lety

      I made it from cold porcelain, you can find a recipe for it pretty easily:) Its made with baby oil, corn starch, and school glue. Turns into a pretty easy to use, air dry clay that shrinks as it hardens.

    You are very talented! I have one question: where in the world did you get the candy mold? I have looked everywhere, and I can't find one with a defined enough face.

    Can I use mod podge to put over the paint so it doesnt come off

    • @TheHandMadeDaily
      @TheHandMadeDaily  Před 10 lety +2

      Don't use mod podge, it will become sticky over time when painted onto polyclay. Use a gloss like Fimo or Sculpey;)

    I had a hard time taking it out of the candy mold.. how long do i let it set in the mold?

    • @iwayovelayouyay123
      @iwayovelayouyay123 Před 10 lety +1

      You don't. It's oven bake clay only so you could leave it in for a week and it wouldn't make a difference. If your using air dry clay, a few hours would work. But if you only have polymer clay and your using a plastic mold, put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. That should help it come out easier without changing the shape :) hope I helped!

    Now how the heck did you get it out if the candy mold? I tried freezing it and I still can't get it out without prying it out and that ruins the skull. Anybody? Lol

    To be more accurate, Marigold flowers are typically used in connection with Dia de Los Muertos celebrations. Roses work in a way, just not culturally accurate. This is my favorite Mexican holiday ^_^ so proud of my culture
