Now you can and it would be most appreciated. Once I reach my $1,000 goal, I'll be buying a second camera to record my mixing palette since it's the number one request I get. Cheers! www.buymeacoffee.com/steveatk...
Follow along as I explain my technique and show you in real-time exactly how I did my award-winning painting "Make the First One Count". Along the way, I'll explain the importance of starting simple and strategically building your textures and details until you have a painting that matches your vision. The subject matter doesn't matter, the concepts and techniques are all the same.

Well you are most definitely a Master at watercolor painting, but you are also a fantastic instructor/teacher! Your soft spoken voice is so encouraging and your story telling helps us keep going and not stress out while doing the hardest part without even realizing it!

Thank you for your encouragement Debbie. As long as we're growing as artists and trying new things, we're going to fail occasionally. It's a part of the learning process, so as long as we embrace it, we'll do better with each painting! If we aren't having the occasional disaster, we aren't learning anything new. Thanks for being a part of the channel!!

@@SteveAtkinsonFineArt OH I think you've got it licked my friend. I found your, "let the brush do the work," tips especially inspiring. We know this, but do I always do it?! Umm, no, not always. I find myself regressing back to the manipulate-the-brush-to-death stage more than I like to tell about. Old pros like us are doing what we should be doing, pushing our peers to greater heights. Again, a very enjoyable video.

Brilliant video Steve. I loved both the painting and the narration. There was no luck in you winning 2nd place at all. The final painting is beautiful. I love watercolors but I have a hard time painting with them as they dry too quickly in West Texas. Any tips you can share?

Thanks Steve. Hey, I hear you... I live in Arizona, the stepchild of West Texas, lol! Drying fast is why I started painting in watercolors to begin with. Just work inside and have a plan as you put down your areas of paint. Start with simple scenes and work your way up to more complicated stuff as you get more experience. I'm still pretty new at watercolor and I'm sure that experienced watercolorists would laugh at my technique, but hey, we're all on this journey together right? We have to start somewhere. Give it a go and I think you might be pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is to work quickly and have those happy accidents along the way. Paint on Steve! Oh, if you haven't already, check out a few of my favorite watercolor YT channels... Mind of Watercolor, Brian Ashmore Studio and Jared Loves to Draw. All are great channels that are full of useful info on the nuts and bolts of watercolor! Also, Tim Wilmont's channel...

You’re welcome. I love your western historical oils and would love to try some, but I’m a fledgling watercolorist. Got some brilliant guidance from this vid and am very happy that you’re planning more! BTW your sketching vids are wonderful as well.
