- The best bass fishermen in the world compete on the Texas-Oklahoma border on Lake Texoma during the ninth annual Bassmaster Classic.
Bass fishing fans will recognize more than a few famous faces such as Rick Clunn, Roland Martin, Bill Dance and Hank Parker.

this is incredible, I was only 7 when this was filmed.
So cool that bass outfitted everyone’s boat so the playing field was even. Maybe they should look into doing the same again for non ffs tournaments.

1979 was Bill Dance's final season in the Bassmaster Classic, before his retirement from tournament angling in 1980.

Hank Parker's weight for the 1st 2 days of the 1979 bassmaster classic has enough to at least lapped the field
Kind of like the IROC series for race car drivers. Same boat and basic fishing tackle, best man wins. Would love to see this now but probably would cut out too many sponsor dollars to ever happen.
Ranger Boats owned the rivers, lakes and streams back in the 1970's and 1980's. Sad you don't see many as we used to.

All my life, I have never seen any boat being launched by a car. Everyone either had a truck, or maybe a van.
Charles Driggers my dad launched his bass boat from a captive classic my entire childhood it was just as powerful and had a full frame
I launched a boat with a 79 country squire stationwagon
This very day I know a guy pulls his boat with a station wagon

This looks like one of the first where they all used modern boats but without the metal flake paint yer their all using uniform boats I wonder if they got free boats just for qualifying.
