@@carrerau7138 Slow down there big hoss and let's look at all of the facts.
Prior to Seles getting stabbed (by a coward German fan), her head-to-head record in the finals of a major was 4 - 4. After she was stabbed, Monica was never the same player, being robbed of the potential to be the GOAT. Not saying she would have been, but given she was cut down in the prime of her game (at 21 years old) she had a chance. By the time she was 21 years old, she had won 9 major championships (8 of them as a teenager). I believe that this is the most titles ever won by a teenager.
After 1993 Steffi started to show her age and slow down. She won 8 more majors after Monica was stabbed. Had she not been stabbed, it's likely she would have won no more than 4 majors after 1993. Moncia was just getting started when she was stabbed.
Nothing above takes away from Steffi being great and one of the top five women's players of all time. Just need to look at more details/data than simply saying, "she was 2-5 win/loss against the great Steffi".

@@Mik-xq2co And the lies by Yankee boys never stop…. 😂
      1. Seles was as good in the first 14 months after her return as she had been pre-stabbing.
      2. She had every opportunity to become the GOAT since she was only 21 when she returned. Same age when Navratilova won her first of her 18 slams.
      3. Seles‘s 8 slams until 1993 were not the most slam titles won as a teenager.
      4. Steffi did not start to show her age and slow down after 1993, she won 6 of 6 finals in 1995/96.
      5. Steffi won 6 slams after The Stabbing on fast surfaces where Seles never was able to beat her.
It is a fact that when Seles had her two most successful years in 1991/92 Steffi had only her 11th-best and 9th-best of 15 full seasons (winning percentage) but still won 3 of 4 matches against the grunter.
It is a fact that 5 of Steffi‘s only 7 (!) slam final misses of the whole 1987-96 decade happened between mid-1990 and 1992.
Even a fanatical nutter like you can see easily that Seles had her success in the early 1990s for one reason - the GOAT was in a deep slump due to severe off-court problems.
Why can’t you Americans accept than a non-American is the GOAT?

@willybeama1 exactly. The GOAT is not determined by the number of wins. It is determined the way those other great tennis players have done it.
They take every aspect: serve, volley, return, speed, court coverage, etc. That is overall play. From that, we know how the GOAT is determined.
Michael Jordan is a good example. If we say he is the greatest player simply based on his NBA championships, everyone who played with him has the exact same amount of wins.
We determined it based on one overall play. Then, we add other variables.

We are saying she would have won more of the slam that Graf ended up winning and I think those would be the French, Aussie and US Open. Grass was still relatively new for Seles so she was still trying to get better and of course she would have improved. Additionally the confidence and fitness of Seles dropped so much after being sidelined for 2.5 years that when she got back on the tour she was never the same player and Graf continued to benefit from an "lesser" Seles beyond the 2.5 years as well. Monica was still a teen when she got stabbed and was ranked #1 and had a 3-1 advantage over Graf in slam finals. Also 8 of her 9 slams came before the stabbing so she was clearly winning the slams that Graf could have before the stabbing and would have clearly continued to do so as she was still only a teen and improving.

Seles had some other embarrassing negative records in that period:
      - worst loss ever for a #1 player in a slam final
      - loss to youngest player ever for a #1 player (15-yo Capriati, San Diego 91)
      - loss to oldest player ever for a #1 player (36-yo Navratilova, Paris 93)

BTW, Steffi beat Seles twice at the USO (95 & 96), won 6 of 6 slams in 95/96 while under criminal investigation (and her beloved dad in prison). Wonder what snowflake Seles would have done under those circumstances.

However Novak Djokovic is lauded as being the best with his 24 slams in this modern era. However especially in this modern era titles do earn money even without slams.

Problem is due to racket technology you can't compare eras. Steffi was probably the fastest. Serena the strongest and Martina most athletic with Chris being most consistent. The game today with the power provided by the rackets negate Martina's serve and volley game. Chris would have more power on her ground strokes but her mobility would be an issue. Toss up between Serena and Steffi but Serena's longevity was due in part to the change in racket technology

@@richcampbell6808Nope actually recorded her playing and been playing tennis at a high level since 1979. So I have watched her throughout her career and I know strengths and weaknesses of the athletes slice backhand is more of a defensive shot she could hit topspin but chose what was safe. Seles ran her off the court because she was strong off both sides before she was stabbed. Steffi was fast and ran around her backhand to hit forehands rarely came to the net. She was known as Frauline forehand because that was the only shot she had. No one feared her serve but it was run of the mill just to start the point. She was not an ace machine like Serena. So I was alive even watched Lendl Connors Agassi etc in person so I kinda have a good knowledge of tennis since I play and have seen the power of the racket technology over the years and have used the rackets that is why it is hard to compare eras when Martina was dominating with a 95 mile per hour first serve. Now they hit in the 125s due to technology. So........I kinda am familiar with the game and play 5 to 6 times per week.
