The Skydrifter is obnoxious the first time Aloy encounters them, because she’s (usually) underleveled with a limited arsenal at that point. After that, though… these are one of the weakest machines in the game. They are very susceptible to Frost, and once the Frost state is fully applied, it’s easy to blow off the razor tail and destroy the Skydrifter.
Early on my trick was to get behind them and hit the sparker with a shock arrow which knocks them down when it explodes then shoot off their tail.
Wow! I am so impressed with this series, I’ve always loved observing and finding hidden abilities about machines in horizon! One of my favourite abilities for machines is the antenna used to spawn in more machines to help them, a bunch on machines “have” these in the notebook but don’t appear to be using them in the wilds. Overall an interesting topic!
Some don’t even spawn with them! I have yet to find a thunderjaw with an antenna, even though it’s in the machine catalog
@@unknown_2552 Yeah, it’s a mysterious ability, once I spent ages travelling all over trying to see a tremortusk with one, but they just wouldn’t spawn. Then in the arena fights the tremortusk had one, but couldn’t even use it in that scenario. I wonder why they spent time adding antenna to half the machines if they can’t spawn with them 🤔
Maybe more function in DLC?
Hopefully! There’s tons of exciting teasers for DLC, I feel like it’s going to expand on almost everything at this point!

one of my personal favourites in forbidden west, this is really difficult in the early stages of forbidden west considering they come in packs of 3-4

Oh man, on the way to Plainsong between the Leapslashers, Skydrifters and Scroungers it's tough early game.
Definitely a difficulty spike! I won’t lie - I fell to the sky drifter near the Tallneck on my first playthrough
@@unknown_2552 I was getting mauled by that Fire Fanghorn when I started The Daunt. I knew at that point my strategy had to change a bit. I was dodging everything heading to that first Tallneck
First encounter with them was overwhelming but they are really cool to observe and they can have some weird bug I found one deep underwater just standing there

It's always fun trying to knock these guys out of the sky with a spike thrower, not the best weapon to deal with them but certainly the most fun.
A flying machine based on an Owl would be awesome to see in future content for the game.

When I first played, I didn’t know could detect while on stealth. I first encountered them at the Tallneck near Plainsong.

Love your vids man! Say, usually how long does it take to record one whole episode?
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoy them! Recording itself doesn’t take too long - usually ranges from 2-4 hours for all the clips and maybe 30 minutes for the voice recording. The editing itself takes the longest - maybe 4-8 hours per video? That’s as long as my computer doesn’t poop out on me before my auto save kicks in 😝
Also I spend a considerable amount of time on the thumbnails lol. I have a lot of fun with every minute of the process though!

My fav is the slaughterspine and thunderjaw too but I like the slaughterspine more then thunderjaw cause slaughterspine is the best machine and the strongest and it looks so good.
Don't know how but found 2 slaughterspines on the beach area.
