Their pumps are ok, other than the new DC motor which is nice. Other than that a rotary vain, is just a rotary vain. The vacuum tree went to the scrap. I had it on a machine all night and it never pulled down and was stuck at 2300 microns. I checked everything for leaks not suspecting the tree. There were no leaks but the tree. The leak was right in the valve under the gauge. It was leaking out of the packing on the valve stem.
I like the 4 port manifolds they have, however I have fallen in love with JBs 4 port manifold. They have a 1/4 turn valve very nice and handy, instead of 20 turns. The new yellow jacket digital manifold is just ok. I did like the logging I was able to do with it. However with it the vacuum transducer would never calibrate and I went through 3 of them. Compared their transducer to others and it was off by quite a bit.
Yellow jacket is just alright with me. (Sing the song)
My go to vacuum is Appion(hope that they will change the oil set up)and the speedy stuff they have. I am starting to transition over to just hoses and digital gauges. I have the testo now but you have to have the app for those all the time. I am waiting for Appion to release their gauges like their old ones they had, they told me something was coming. I like a screen so I am not depending on another device all the time.

I agree. YG use to be a leader now I feel they have been passed up in the last several years.
As for the hoses I think the Tru Blue acuu hoses are the best. Complete different design.
I like the Appion vacuum manifold. The YG manifold seemed out of date and I can't see those ball valves holding that well as you pointed out. That's why I started making the lowesdepot brass Tee. I think the FP vacuum pump is the win. Combo of a DC motor with visible oil and complete oil view.
I have the Testo and FP digital set. I liked the FP because it had everything on the same screen where as Testo I had to move screens to see everything.
I fought against the probes for a long time, like you I dint want to depend on 2 devices. However after using measurquick and the mass of information it worked with I have fallen in love with the probes and Measurquick.
YG digital equiemt won't work with measurquick. Measurquick reached out to them but they did not want to participate. It will be interesting to see if Appion will allow their data to work with Measurquick.

FieldPiece pumps are my go to along with their probes with MQ. I also found that Trueblu hoses are superior

@@love2hvac do you have a video regarding R410a condensers that are rated at 5ton but often have a compressor such as the ZP44k5e and a fairly large coil. The carrier 24abb461A from 2009/2010 is an energy star rated model. I am wondering how a small compressor with 44KBTU capacity is able to provide 5Tons of condenser cooling

@@TheRealoldcar this is what manufactures do now to play the effecency games.
Amana was one of the first I remember of doing this in the late 90's.
A unit rated for 5 tons does not mean it's a 5 ton unit. This is why ACCA manual S is so important. You will quickly see how various brands will have various capacities on the same rated "size".
Some of what they are doing is working the numbers for factory testing standards. All units are initially tested at the same laboratory conditions of 80F return air and 50%=the with an 95 outdoor conditions.
By utalizing a larger condensing coil they can drop the head pressure, a larger evaporator they raise the suction pressure (although with lower dehumidification).
The result is a lower compression ratio and more capacity gains from the compressor. And this is how they get the energy star. It's not all bed though, as most units across the country are oversized anyway.
The ACCA manual S will be able to select equipment on a actual operating conditions with the Manual J (and blower door leak rate teat)

I've never been happier with my YJ vacuum pump. 5cfm, works like a charm.

Damn it I just bought the bullet x. Now I regret the purchase.

What is more important than the pump is the vacuum rated hoses and the valve core removal. I have a whole series devoted to just that.
