I remember as a young lad searching on the radio for this new station..Then suddenly in a new wavelength I heard with a strong signal The Beatles playing "She's a Woman". when the music stopped there was an announcement that this was a test transmission from Radio London. (Just like it was yesterday) ...🙂

It was such a let-down when the eventual licensed independent stations (years later) had such a boring tame British sound. Big L raised the bar and the later stations crawled under it.

Great. Wonder where the great audio quality came from??

He was known as Tony Withers in Oz ...a big lie was told as to why he was leaving Down Under.
Changed his name to Tony Windsor for the Pirate Station.
His parents were said to be Greek ...but Withers sure isn't a Greek name!
