The bridge is so long
Yeah it's 11.8km km long. It was constructed in 1990 and it was the longest bridge in Africa until 1996 when November bridge overtook itin Egypt. It's the 2nd longest bridge in Africa for now

Apart from the bridge, the Third Mainland Bridge, everything on the way looks dirty and disorganised to the eyes. Even the buses on the roads are scraps. I have been complaining about this and I don't believe the government listen. Imagine leaving Makoko there to continue rotting away. Government is supposed to have a budget for Makoko on how to gradually face it out by buying different parts at different times, fencing them, demolishing the shacks and putting warning signs of no trespassing until all is done.
You may think you know it all, neither did you do your proper research to see the effort Lagos state Govt have put in. Several efforts have been made by the Govt to take out Danfo buses from the streets. Do you know how many people rely on it as a means of daily bread? Their Union fought the Govt head on. An example is what it took for the Govt to finally ban Okada bikes from the highways, you all complained of job losses and Govt not having human face etc The Govt is systematically taking them out by providing alternatives first, with the Bus rapid transit (BRT), lastmile buses, Blue and redline rail, Lagos blue ride cabs etc.. overtime the old buses will be out and the drivers can be absolved into the new system. Secondly, Makoko is an ancestral community. In fact the last attempt by Govt enforcement agencies during Governor Fashola era to force them out for urban renewal and cleanup cos some investors wanted to put money, led to the death of few persons. They have resisted all alternatives, saying it's their livelihood as Riverine people and they can't exist elsewhere. But under the Lagos state masterplan that area is not meant to be that way or exist. So Govt is reluctant to develop the place.

Even a google search on Makoko will tell that that is outside of the plan and the people there have fought tooth and nail to keep that illegal settlement. I think Lagos is doing a lot in the area of public transport and the population in Lagos isn’t something to gloss over. People hate change and will resist certain development for fear of losing their livelihood.

Makoko is nobody ancestral land. The history behinds it is very sketchy and it is clear it not even a Nigerian origin. Despite saying that it is duty of the government to find solution. It is done everywhere around the world by systematically buying out the shacks and put warning signs not to trespass on them before demolition. Yes, it will take a long time to do but there is nothing like that in place at the moment which just means the government has not foresight.
Force eviction is not the solution which the government attempted in the urban renewal plan and that is the reason some get hurt in the process.

Please do not make the error of visiting Nigeria without visiting Abuja (Federal Capital Territory).
Lagos is just approximately 30% of Nigeria and like we, Nigerians, always tell whoever wanna listen that Nigeria is way bigger than only Lagos.(Although Lagos contains much and is the leading state in Nigeria!!!)
Visiting Abuja will be an epiphany for you. There in Abuja you're gonna see the effort of a driven people who've built for themsleves and their country a beffiting capital city that's world standard.
Abuja will shock anyone.

The money is mainly found in Lagos but it's being spent in Abuja.

Some Nigerians are funny, however yes only so called Abuja and Uyo in Akwa Ibom state is only modern cities in Nigeria and the rest Nigeria cities are shithole.
But it high time you Nigerians start holding the Nigerians incompetent corrupted elites accountable.
