Plain and simple: What happens when you bring a kid into a candy store (a poor kid). Anthony Joshua is lucky his opponent, Andy Ruiz, was a short, fat, boxer with short arms. If Andy was chiseled and as tall as Joshua (wouldn't need those extra-long arms) Andy Ruiz would destroy Anthony Joshua. Joshua did not knock Andy out, did not took his willpower nor Andy's big heart. If Cain Velasquez was a ring boxer and his challenger was Anthony Joshua, Velazquez would tear Joshua apart. It's just a matter of time when Mexican American/Mexican boxers will dominate the heavyweight fights, and once they (we) get there, They Will Stay There.

I love Ruiz, that he had won the first one, and did what he did for his life, but the night he won he said he was going to be even stronger and hungrier and be in better shape for the second fight. He even said he'd lean down some. I knew the extra weight wasn't going to work at all to his advantage. And really I'm not sure if it would've made a difference. Styles make fights and a taller fighter with good movement and a jab is going to beat a fighter like Ruiz unless he totally changes his approach which just isn't his thing. He'll always be the flat footed guy with great hand speed and power but most likely lose to fighters with the size, style, and strategy Joshua used. It reminds me of Lennox Tua. Tua was the shorter guy who had tremendous KO power but the taller more active Lewis just stayed behind his jab and schooled him. Fury would do the same with Ruiz. Luis Ortiz would also outbox Ruiz but I can see that fight being more entertaining. I think that's his best high profile fight right now or fight Usyk. I just don't see him beating Joshua again no matter how much he changes things unless Joshua slips. And no I'm not some biased British fan I'm Texas born and raised. Styles make fights...there are exceptions at times such as Wilder can lose every round and out of nowhere he can unleash a cannon. Ruiz can get the one punch KO but with 6'5' 6'6"+ guys who are going to box like Joshua (stick move and tie up when close) did he just isn't going to do much. Him and Wilder could be interesting in that Wilder is little wild and may get caught. He'll do good against the Povetkin types but guys like Joshua and even Usyk are going to just pick him apart.
