The heart is actually autonomous in a way. It relies on its own anatomy to pump; nothing else. It produces its own electrical signals.

@@antares6998 It doesn't get signals from the brain. The AV node, SA node, and Perkinje fibers work based off their own current. The heart doesn't get air in it cuz like...thatd be bad. And nutrition doesn't count cuz that has nothing to do with its autonomic function. It just happens cuz the bodies not gonna let it die. If anything, the brain gets info from the heart, not the other way around.

When I said it was bad, I was imagining like, a molecule of free oxygen going through your heart, which isn’t good. That’s called an air embolism.
ered read that makes no sense. Pumping rate and blood flow? The brain doesn’t tell the heart how much blood to pump. Pumping rate has to do with the time it takes the electrical current to travel from the SA node to the perkinje fibers. And the SA node produces its own electrical current. Blood isn’t made in the heart too. The heart just moves it to the lungs and peripheries. Blood pressure isn’t set by anything, it seems to just be it’s own thing related to blood viscosity, and pressure needed to pump it effectively.
