    The passenger ferries in Ostend and even Zeebrugge completely stopped.

    Nice journey. Oostende was the terminus of many international trains when there was still a ferry service to Dover. Hence all the platforms. Now it's all but a shadow of its former self. That's also why some of the infrastructure is so "faded elegance"!

      Oh cool, I didn't realise! Wish there was still a ferry between Belgium and the UK, wild make travelling a lot easier for me!

      @@helloantoniotraveladventures Are the ferries from Zeebrugge to Dover no longer operating? That was always our preferred crossing to NL and back.

      No, they stopped long ago

      It is still a very important station, as Oostende remains a very popula seaside resort and trains on weekends are really crowded with people to go to the beach...also the station has been completely renovated some years ago..so its probably an even more impressive landmark than when the ferries to Ramsgate were still in service...

      Can't argue with those busy weekend trains!

    If you're under the age of 26 years old, you can use a Youth Pass (Go Pass 1) for only 6.60 euros (one way) from every Belgian station to every other Belgian station. Prices are fixed for this one no matter how long your journey is... For shorter journeys it would be best to buy a normal one because it would be cheaper

    nice one. in the mean tims the NMBS is working on the problem of no checkups ( water is best to be at hands) since that is a technical problem

      @@helloantoniotraveladventures Yeah, i even filmed the new control car with some carriages attached when they were being waiting for the green signal in my town's station, they were being towed to be finished.. they didn't had interior back then.

    • @helloantoniotraveladventures
      @helloantoniotraveladventures  Před 3 lety

      Are they still rolling out more new carriages? Some of the rolling stock really could do with an upgrade or even replacing, especially on some of the more rural routes

    • @KayoMichiels
      @KayoMichiels Před 3 lety +1

      @@helloantoniotraveladventures Yes! They have! they are waiting for the arrival of many M7 carriages, both as normal carriages and control cars, they are also upgrading old stock (M5,AM75, AM80, AM86), with better motors, electronics, interior and paintschemes, they are all being painted with the same yellow front, white body grey underside and red doors, that started with the introduction of the MS96 in 1996.

    I take the train to school and per school year I average 5 ticket checks in the first semester but in the second semester it’s daily
    Now tbh I take a local train so it’s not the best place to expect many checks
