I live in Nafplio. I can't believe I didn't see you while you were doing this video. I have been recording videos of Nafplio on my new CZcams channel @MyGreekLifestyle great video my friend!
I’m a Greek South African and found your channel a few days ago and subscribed. I’m really enjoying your content even though it brings tears to my eyes occasionally
Greece is amazing. Cant go wrong with any of the small towns or islands.
You are absolutely right 🇬🇷🧿💙
Nafplio is one of the most beautiful cities in greece, and very picturesque !
It certainly is. So much so that I moved from the UK here to Greece 🇬🇷
@@MyGreekLifestyle How many days would you recommend for Nafplio? Thank you in advance
@@Mongoose-ct6us Nafplio is perfect for a long weekend. 3 days is great, but you could also stay in Nafplio and check out the surrounding area.
@@MyGreekLifestyle Fantastic. Efcharisto Poly
I took a week to visit Greece with three days in Greece, three days in Monemvasia and just one night in Nafplio and I felt like I had to go back soon. Wish I was back there right now. An amazing time.
I love Nafplio!! This was my favourite city I’ve visited in Greece!!
I used to go to Nafplio for holidays all the time with my family and we loved it so much that we actually moved here.
I was just there 2 days ago! Loved Nafplio!
We went to Greece in 2014. We were there for 10 days and visited many different cities. We rented a car and had a wonderful time exploring as much as we could. We drove A LOT! Nafplio was my favorite place to visit. This video brought back so many lovely memories of that trip ❤ Ty for posting!
My dtr & i were just in Nafplio as well. What a lovely town. Stayed in Aetoma hotel, no elevators, but delightful staff & delicious bkfst. Take hop on & off bus to Palamidi Fortress, boat to Bourtzi castle
I went there on your advice. Love that place and am heading back this year! When I was there, they had a hop on hop off bus that runs around the whole town and runs up to the castle. You take hop off at the castle and the driver will tell you when he'll be back. I think it is about an hour which gives you plenty of time to explore the castle. I hired a driver to take me on excursions and back to Athens (rather than public transportation). It was worth it.
One of my favorite place in Greece 🥹🥹
Mine too 🇬🇷🧿💙
I love Nafplio… the absolute workout of trekking up-to the Palamidi Fotress, the little boutiques, the restaurants (I think one of my all time favourite gyros grills is there 🤤 ) a gorgeous Italian Gelateria just around the corner from the port. But, you’ve mentioned Tolo for the beech a couple of times. My recommendation is that you base yourself at Tolo for your holiday for exactly that beech, wonderful during the day with great views, amazing ambience in the evening and night with those beachside tavernas and that sunrise in the morning… WOW. And if you’re not up for car hire (like me) then there are regular buses from and to Nafplio which is literally pocket change.
Nafplion is also my favourite place in Greece. We stayed in a hotel overlooking the harbour, opening the curtains when we arrived in our room and seeing the amazing view was a wow moment.
How many days would you recommend for Nafplio?
When you go there you have the feeling that you want to stay forever.
A week it would be nice because they're a lot you may see in the area. You may organise a lot of day trips,
for example to the nearby island of Spetses.
Visited in 2000 and it was fantastic! Just a great little town to walk around and relax with a great atmosphere.
Hey Mark, awesome video
Well done Mark! Love your attitude and explanations, you are really explanatory and well read on the topic of Nafplio!
a well timed greek video to also note and congratulate olypiacos on their uefa conference league championship today
Those tips will come in handy. Thanks for sharing!😊
A couple of years ago, I took the whole family (ex-wife and 4 young adult kids) on an epic tour of Greece. We visited Athens, Santorini, Rhodes (and Istanbul on the way home). All amazing. But our favourite was Nafplio, and that's saying a lot. The wonderful walking path from Nafplio to Karathona beach is an adventure on its own. Would return in a heartbeat.
I did the Hike up there in September, Was the most beautiful hike! Nafpilo, is my Favorite Greek City!!!!!!
I love to go for hikes all the time in Nafplio. We, the locals hike around Nafplioall time. I have recorded most of my videos while going forward a hike.
This brought me back so many memories. When I went to Greece in 2018, I spent three nights in Napflio. Such an amazing town!
probably the only channel i can thumbs up before it even begins! Great stuff professor.... now i just need to find that portal you use to get around so fast!
Hey there great video. I would like to add to these great advices, the place that the first prime minister, Ioannis Kapodistrias was murdered. He was murdered outside of the Church of St. Spyridon and actually the print from the bullet is still visible in the wall of the Church.
Great orange joke, Mark 😁
How often have you been in Greece? Your accent is very good btw 👍👏
Hope you and the fam are doing amazing!!!! Love your content! Keep up the great work!😊🙏🏼
Very good video and well explained. My next trip soon. Thank you!
You gotta do a video on Kalamata which is south of Naflpio, its a bigger city with great beaches.
Hi! Great Greece tip, leave this Friday to be in Samos for three months. I am on beautiful island of Samos. A MUST & greenest island of Greece & only 45 minutes to Kusadasi Turkey. I did it last summer & doing it again. To get to Nafplio best way to get there?? Do you go from Athens to Nafplio? Do Northern Greece at same time?
View from the Palamidi fortress is amazing. Great choice of restaurants too (Stavlos!). Fly to Athens, rent a car, drive for 2 hours and you're in Nafplio. The perfect start for a Peloponnese road-trip, April-May or October!
We were there last year at this time. Somewhat quiet town. It actually felt Americanized in the square but nicely so. It didn't seem foreign. The ice cream was great at the shop located on the left just before the area where we hoped back on the tour bus.
What a timely video. Fiancée and I are getting married in Santorini and this is one of the places we’re going on our Honeymoon
Great video you have really captured what to do in Nafplio. It is a bit of an undiscovered gem, at least as far as foreign tourists are concerned. one of my recommendations is to have breakfast in The Kentrikon in Syndagma Square- it is always really good.
I spent 15 days in Nafplio years ago, and the stairs to the fortress are not to be taken lightly when it's 40 celcius ....
2:33 Walking down can be just as stressful or more so on your joints/soft tissues. Heart and lungs not so much.
If you are in Greece, you can go to Ioannina, the msot beautiful city of Greece and trip to the villages.
999 steps exact^^
Maybe also visit Nafpaktos? It is a nice town near Patras with a nice castle as well.
What is a good hotel to stay at in Nafplio with my elderly mother? I would like a hotel close to the beach. Thanks!
❤❤❤
Why have I never heard of this town and it sounds so amazing?
I had never heard of it either before visiting on a tour of Mycenae and Epidaurus.
There's a bus from the harbour that does a return to the castle
first capitol was aigina
the second capitol
Drinking and driving is illegal here in the UK too
Mark, how many countries have you visited in your life?
Aegina is usualy consider the first capital of Greece, worth exploring as well. Great video btw
Are you traveling to Thessaloniki as well?
How much money does it cost you to travel to these places? Monthly? Yearly? Whats the total cost of it all
You could burn calories walking up those 900 steps. 00:49
I have just uploaded a video claiming the 999 steps to the Palamidi castle. It takes around 25 min to go up.
Lols. I went there in 2004 with two women...one of which talked her way out of going to jail for a DUI.
What countries are on the radar next year besides Egypt and Ethiopia?
Hey Mark, after eating orange pie did your poo turn orange? 🤔
In Greece all people that have a minimum of culture acknowledges that greek modern cultural identity is the fruit of deep ottoman influence. Greece, Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia, and to a certain extent Croatia and Serbia, are the western frontier of this influence. You find it in the language, in the food, in certain superstitions, in the music (think about the odd rhythms, certain instruments). But it is also true that ignorant and/or ultranationalists Greeks will always do everything to deny it, to refuse this idea and be offended when you mention it. Some towns like Trikala or Joannina are trying to take care if their ottoman heritage, are proud of it and promote it towards the tourists with museums, explanations written here and there. Other towns, like Nafplio, not really, even if you can see here and there clear ottoman signs (fountain, two mosques).
Don't bend over to tie your shoe!!!
Not safe here
???
Nafplio is one of the safest cities in the world. If you don’t know, don’t speak.
