Sorry. Having been in the tire biz for 27 years, I would NOT recommend going from a LR C to a LR E. It still only has THREE sidewall plies. They're beefier, but the reasoning for it is to hold more air pressure and carry more weight. On the road, you can't use that carrying capacity as it will exceed the suspension capacity. Also, running the LR E at lower air pressures will create more sidewall heat. And being heavier, the LR E will lower your gas mileage.

I’m sure someone already mentioned this but I’m too lazy to read all the comments…but as the owner of multiple Raptors (full size Raptors) the side steps are there to block gravel sized rocks from flying up and hitting your fenders and chipping your paint. Since most Raptor owners prefer high speed trails over rock crawling (as this is what the truck is designed for) the benefit of the steps protections your truck from flying rocks outweighs the drawback of lost clearance when rock crawling. So I would definitely not agree that these “need to come off immediately”. Just my two cents…

EVERY reviewer has slept on the base ZR2. Fairly certain Toyota won't let them put TRD-Off Road against base ZR2, despite them being within $1k of each other once adding 8spd auto, predator steps, and bedliner to TRD-Off Road. That is standard base build on 24 Tacoma TRD Off Road before anyone tries to come at me with the "it's base is actually $42k...". The ZR2 base would have been a much closer race using Baja Mode launch control. The difference in powertrain is even smaller when you take into consideration the Colorado ZR2 comes with 3.43 gears, while Ranger Raptor has 4.27 gears. Why GM put such a lazy ratio in ZR2, let alone Bison, I don't know.

Note: Recommending going to an E load tires isn’t a good idea. The C rated BFG is Percocet for the truck being a lighter weight and the suspension is tuned with that sidewall. The C rated tire is better with snow traction and has better grip offroad.

The C rated tire is better in snow at the correct air pressure. People putting 10 ply (E range) tires on these can't run the same air pressure. And I agree that airing down a 6 ply (C range) tire does less damage to the sidewall plies.

The BFG KO3 in 35x12.5R17 is actually only 34.5... that's normal, industry wide. Only a very small minority of tires actually come close to being true to size. Dented roofs, electrical issues, and yes engine and transmission problems too. But spotlight's on Toyota I guess. Also out of 80k+ new Tacos sold so far it's not unreasonable that you'll see a number of failures, especially with a new product launch.

A bison is trail a machine, the TRDP is more desert, and the Ford is a Mustang with a bed. A ZR2 Colorado is $52k and would clock faster times in this test by dropping the 500 lb of steel from the Bison and having 33" tires. These comparisons are so shallow and incomplete as to be useless in most cases.
