We installed a touch sensitive faucet in our home about 10 years ago. LOVE IT. There is one problem with them.
After you have used it long enough, you will find yourselves in someone else's kitchen or perhaps in your own boat at different faucets touching a regular faucet and expecting them to turn on by habit. Funniest part is right after you realize the faucet will not turn on by touch because it is not your faucet that you got used to, and turn it on manually like any other faucet, you will tap it again to turn it off...You may think I am being silly, but give yourselves a few months with it and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

I really want to see you do a faucet in 5 minutes! I'd pay to see that😅😂
Plus, that outlet box looks crooked in the video.😮

We saw that too but then wondered if they made it “level to the world” but then since the boat curves, it looks crooked??

bob's pro tip, That water is a little too hot to the point you can scald yourself. Also, make the water as hot as you need and no more. It does not make sense from a conservation of electrical power to super heat water and then have to mix in cold water to bring the temp back down to a useable temperature. Save some energy and save your skin.

Here is a pro tip, don't buy cheap no name Amazon faucets. Buy quality name brand faucets from major manufacturers. My personal choice in order is Kohler, Price Pfjster, Moen, Delta, and American standard. Do not buy any plumbing products that haven't earned the UPC shield logo. There is only one lab that can issue those certifications and that is Iapmo. If you install non UPC approved plumbing products in your home and you have a leak or flood leading to a homeowners insurance claim you may not be covered due to not using properly certified products.
If you want to install stranded wires on electrical receptacles you must use the type that has the clamping plate that is tightened with the screw since those little plates are able to contain the strands.

Ty would it have been more of a water saver if you had installed the hot water in a closed loop fashion, then you would have had instant hot water.

Yes!!! As an RVer I too am freaked out how none of the electrical outlets are housed in protective boxes. I agree with you that if they are required in houses, why not in boats and RVs which undergo constant vibrations? Good call on adding one for your new outlet.

Hot water should be never above 120f because you not want to burn. It is better for water consumption to be at 100f, then you don’t need cold water to mix.

I have put in house electric water heaters - instructions say 130 degrees F is recommended, at least that is how I remember it. 140 degrees F will burn skin, unnecessary in Florida.

Have to make a comment on the Electrical. While the spade crimp terminal lugs are correct for stranded wire ... Where are the pig tails ? Using the pass thru on the device (outlet itself) for the hot and neutral means you are limiting that quad outlet to only 10 amps ...yes the break away tab on outlets -- between the 2 screws that is (unless otherwise rated, big box store outlets are never those) are only rated at 10 amps . So your power down stream is affected doing it this way. If you pig tail the hot and neutral with only one lead to the device then full capacity is available "down stream" to the rest.. think serial (with one weak link vrs Parallel -- Ty surprised to see you do it this way especially for a kitchen circuit. And yes the 2 ground wires should be pig tailed too.... in your case you would have 2 lugs under the one ground s crew ... a code violation ...
For the lay people the breakaway Tabs are so you can make the outlet switched as in the top half of the duplex outlet switched and the out hot all the time.
Sorry I just had to comment being a retired electrician.
AND yes I agree those types of outlets should not be UL approved ---- because lay people think they can use the pass thru to connect power in and power out to each of the screws -- that makes that breakaway tab in "series" to the circuit

Are you just going to leave wires flopping around inside all the hidden parts of the boat like that.
Is that just a lagoon thing not using any boxes for the outlets?

    • @SailingDauntless
      @SailingDauntless  Před 8 měsíci

Wires are only loose for a max 18 inches ABYC recommendations. Leopard and yes Lagoon and every other boat I have seen does not use boxes at switch points or outlets.
