Fords 3 valve 5.4 is garbage. I love my 5.3. The 5.3 is really simple to work on

Lol GM is so funny with shit like this. Like how they compared the F-150 to their 2500 and 3500 series trucks at 12:20, well no shit the F-150's towing capacity can't match them, they are a completely different class, anything to say their junk is better. These days GM easily makes the worst of all the full size pickups, they suck so hard by comparison they had to make up an award (J.D Power) to accredit themselves with.

True I will say though that 1999 to 2006 GM did have the best trucks whereas the Ford F150 did have a Terrible run from 2004 to 2010 with the 3 Value 5.3 Triton

Sure, maybe GM had better features, but look at the build quality. GM's build quality, of all time, but especially when this truck was being made, was GARBAGE. Ford knew how to build quality interiors, among other things. There's a reason when every single one of these crap trucks on the road today has leaks, rattles, stuff that doesn't work, things that fall off, knobs and handles that break, steering wheels that turn to dust, etc. Ford knows how to build stuff that lasts. If you look at a 2004 Silverado and a 2004 F150 now, with the same miles, there's no comparison which one will still look like new, on average. Only because if either truck was owned by an extremely abusive owner, they wouldn't look good. But then again, Ford EASILY can take more abuse than any Chevy, and that's just a fact.

@@isaac24 Ford pretty much single handedly brought luxury interiors to the truck market in 2004. I was 16 that year and I remember at the time my grandfather had a 2003 F-150 Super Crew and my parents bought a 2004 F-150 single cab STX and the difference in the interiors between the two trucks was night and day, despite the STX being a lower tier model it's interior was leaps and bounds better than my grandfathers 2003 F-150. Nothing GM or Dodge offered at the time came even remotely close to the 04 F-150's interior, but in all fairness, GM had the powertrain reliability advantage at that time.
The 5.4L 3v used in the 2004 - 2008 F-150's was pretty finicky and problematic between it's spark plugs and cam phasers, they could last a long time but they required very specific and intense maintenance to do so on average. The 5.3L at the time (pre DOD/MDS) was generally more reliable and forgiving when abused. Ford did have the 4.6L though which was insanely reliable, but also greatly underpowered for the F-150's chassis and really had no business in anything bigger and heavier than a Crown Vic.
Today I absolutely believe Ford has the best of both worlds. I own a 5.0L Coyote F-150 FX4 Supercab and it really is no comparison between it and any 5.3L truck new or old. The 5.0L has WAY more power than 5.3L GM's and honestly is more comparable to their 6.2L trucks, reliability between the two is another win for the 5.0L, GM's modern 5.3's used DOD which is known to prematurely eat lifters, I am aware that the gen 4 5.0L's used DOD as well, but I haven't heard of any real issues coming up yet with the 5.0L, so maybe Ford learned for whatever mistakes GM and Ram made with the same system.
Interior wise, they are all pretty plush and well put together these days, but GM is still #3 of the big three in my opinion in this category. It's a tight race between Ford and Ram in interior comfort/quality which is really saying something for Ram's, they've always up until this latest generation of trucks had legendarily bad interiors.

@@nathanmcdonald610 I would agree with Ford bringing in luxury interiors. Chrysler/Dodge in 94 started the trend of making the interiors more "car like" but 94 Ram interiors aren't luxury. I have an 07 XLT F150 and an old buddy of mine had an 08 Silverado LT. The interior quality difference was insane. I also hate how awkward GMs interiors have been. The weird squares don't help.
The 5.4 3v was in fact finicky. If Ford had recommended 3k oil changes from the factory and people religiously maintained them they would have been the next best thing and drove GM sales into the ground. The only reason those trucks sold well was people knew the 5.3 and it wasn't new like the 3v 5.4. If you religiously maintain the 3v 5.4 it CAN be fine, sometimes, but I don't trust them. I bought my truck with a 4.6 for a reason. EXTREMELY slow, even with mine only being 2wd and an extended cab, but DEAD reliable.
I always like to say that while GM and Dodge had big lifter issues in the late 2000s, Ford still had the 3v 5.4 in the mid 2000s. So even though they were a bit ahead of GM and Dodge, all 3 of the big 3 had engines issues with their large V8s for a period of time. It just so happened that Ford learned after a few years it was an issue and stopped, while GM and Dodge didn't.
I think Ram gives you more luxury these days, but Ford certainly has the best build quality. GMs just suck. I will agree- Ram has come a LONG way with their interiors. Although I will say we rented a Challenger a few months back and it was TERRIBLE, like mid 2000s GM terrible. I wish their Ram interiors would trickle to the other stuff, because new Rams are actually really nice. Fords are too. They aren't as luxurious but have better build quality. GM can't do either, they tried both but failed.
