It used to be. Now we get to watch salmon fishing videos, could not be more boring. Way to go you caught a salmon with a flasher who cares. Everyone can buy salmon at the grocery store. Other fisherman will come along on CZcams and will recognize the gorgeous beauty of rock fishing, and I'll enjoy those videos. Boats are boring. Rockfishing all the way. Instead of being boring Matts should just go to other coastlines and fish for other species. Like go to Mexico, Canada, South America, England, go to Greece, go to Africa bro. It's your job. Do it.

my AWD Honda CRV has done me good for a number of things. My dad has worked for Honda for more than 35 years, and my CRV has moved me cross country four times, survived a hurricane, taken me off-roading when all the roads were closed and shut down, has gotten me through Louisiana's floods, Texas highlands, Virginia/West Virginia/Kentucky mountains, plus has a customizable option to attach a tent. Fits me, my partner, and my two large dogs, including my SAR K-9's hard crate all comfortably. Love that thing. 17 years old, 180k miles and still going strong.
We just got a Honda pilot touring and love it. Has 110 plug in center console, DVD player in back, 4wd, 3.5L v6 the list goes on. 2" lift and bigger tires it will be the ultimate daily/outdoors buggy.
Get the Toyota Sienna. Super comfortable for road trips, very smooth ride, seats in the back can fold all the way down, and a very "Deep" trunk. Van's nowadays got zero space in the trunk. Great on gas too. You'll love it!
If the outback still can only tow 2500lb it won't work for towing most boats. It was unfortunate when I was selling Subarus and people wanted an outback but they needed towing capability. Then the ascent came around and it was a bit better at 5k towing capacity.

I have a Nissan X-Terra and it meets all your criteria, I have it rigged up to be an overland camping rig now and I love it. I sleep in it and fish and cook out of it all the time. It’s perfect for almost anything like that outdoors.

I highly recommend buying one that's 2 years old, you can save a ton of money. I use window inserts from ebay and sleep in mine on fishing trips too.

That was a good day off the rocks. Best bait for Lings I have found is Sand Dabs. I used them off Ft Brag on party boats. Then you could keep 5 Lings and the size averaged what you caught today. The females were half again bigger. I took home fillets that were 20 inches, best fish I ever ate 'cept for fresh Salmon.
You are an inspiration to me. I cook on camera, but I have never been fishing. Watching you catch cab and greenling is fascinating, because we have them in my area, but they DO NOT sell them in the stores. If I ever want to cook these fish, I will need to go and catch them MYSELF. My buddy is an avid fisherman, and he is planning to take me fishing with him, so we can do a catch and cook. I'm nervous, but enthusiastic. I probably would have been much less enthusiastic, had I not been a fan of your show first. Keep up the excellent work! And my 2 cents: I don't like Siennas. I owned one for years, and I wouldn't imagine it would be up to the task of off roading, no matter what you might do it.
Subaru ascent or outback (depending on if you need 3 rows or not) is a great option. They've been doing awd for a long time, and really know what they're doing. Definitely my suggestion.

I have a toyota rav 4. All wheel drive. It's super comfortable. Drives very well on off road. Back seats folds in so you could sleep in it. Also the truck floor opens up to store stuff away without using the actual truck space. Look into it.
I just picked up the subaru forester and i love it. Snow, dirt, sand it does it all. I just do overland type trips so it works. They also have a larger subaru if you need the tow capacity.
Jeep Patriot 4x4? Ford Explorer or escape? Depending on how old you wanna go they also have some V8 Jeep Grand Cherokees that aren’t too crazy expensive. Hope that may help👌🏻keep up the great videos!

We were looking at at tacoma... way to expensive here in Cali, went with a Subaru Crosstrek instead. Its perfect. Rods up on the rack or in the back, seats fold you can sleep in it if you want, Awd, they even make rack mounted tents.
My girlfriend just bought a 2021 rav4 hybrid le and it’s amazing we take it to the coast all the time and it has all the space we need 👍🏼 the rav4s are the top selling SUV right now!
Get a Toyota Tacoma dual cab with a canopy (to sleep in). In Australia it’s a hilux, as the ads say it’s “unbreakable”. I’ve had a hilux for 7 years, I take it offroad all the time and never really had a problem. It just keeps going no matter what I put it through
New vehicle...consider your sleep space as a tall guy. I recently read that crew cab sleeping is not so good and sleeping in the truck bed is better. You’ll do what’s needed for the family, no doubt.
My 2011 4Runner has all the luxury I need and has got me through some treacherous offroading, including creek crossing even being stock. It's likely the only vehicle I buy in the future.
You asked about a vehicle I would suggest a Toyota sequoia. It has 4 wheel drive the sleeping room you want off road ability and the family ability too. We have one for all those reasons ourselves. Plus it has tow ability too. I highly recommend it or a smaller version the 4runner.
I'd take a long look at the Mazda CX5 or CX9 if you need a third row. They get a lot out of 4 cylinders and the CX5 has the split rear seat passthrough that's perfect for long rods. If you want more off-road capability I'd look at a Subaru Forester or Outback, the Outback has a perfectly flat deck when the rear seat is folded down making sleeping in the car very easy. With the Forester, you'll need to build a sleeping deck or use an air mattress.
To answer your car question. I would recommend Subaru. Specifically CrossTrek or Outback. Both are all wheel drive, plenty of space, good gas mileage and they hold their value well too. Not to mention they are actually affordable unlike Toyota, which cost a arm and leg these days (tacomas).
I am super happy you weighed that lingcod because tons of people are out here lying about their lingcod weight! My PB lingcod is also 29" 9.6lbs, caught off the shore of the south jetty of Humboldt Bay, its tuff pulling them out of them rocks! :) 29" is NOT 15-20lbs!!!

I am super happy you weighed that lingcod because tons of people are out here lying about their lingcod weight! My PB lingcod is also 29" 9.6lbs, caught off the shore of the south jetty of Humboldt Bay, its tuff pulling them out of them rocks! :) 29" is NOT 15-20lbs!!!
