The birth of this rare male baby chimpanzee is wonderful news for the zoo as the female chimps at Chester make amazing mothers. and amazing news for the breeding program and endangered species conservation

The babes mother doesn't get all crazy, screaming or hitting. She calmly @ gently takes baby back. I'm sure once she has him in her bed, she's checking him out..❤❤❤
It's amazing how skillful the adult females are at managing the behavior of the younger chimps. Annie isn't disciplined when she's being unsafe around the baby, instead she sees how the female chimps are protecting it when it's taken away from her. She's being taught well, even humans can learn a lot from these moms and aunties! And as Ape Tracker promised, Alice's swelling has gone down so people can stop panicking 😅
Thanks so much, you are correct, Annie is not quite as good with the babies as Stevie, I think she is just a little too young for the job but has watched Stevie with Jeff and I think is a little too eager. Like you say though they are learning some amazing skills. ❤️
I love how Layla really thought about her next move and the safety of the baby attached.
Yes, the older chimps at Chester really do work well together, they are great with the babies. 🥰
The bond the females have is lovely, they all work together to ensure the safety and peace of their family. Annie has earned their trust or she wouldn’t be able to take her baby brother from any of them. Nice video, thanks for sharing!❤
Thanks Mary, they are a wonderful group, this year we have really seen the females bonding. Have a wonderful week.
Mom was very calm
I think she gave Annie a stop messing about look 🤣
Amazing mum no screaming just takes her little man back and that’s it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah they are such a fantastic group where the babies are concerned. Thanks so much as always ZQ We appreciate your support so much. ❤️
They All Are Beautiful.
Aww, great video! Love how much they all want to be involved with the baby.
Yes they do, they really are an amazing close group.
Alice is phenomenal amazing mother, I love watching her with her babies. I wouldn’t mess with Alice or her babies, she looks like she could kick some major ass!
Do you have any video footage of Alice’s births with both children??
Thanks so much, Alice is certainly a well muscled chimp, here is a link to a video I recorded in 2019 a day after Alice had given birth to Annie. 👍

Mama shook her head, "no." I can't believe it. Amazing.😊
Great footage, lovely teamwork to keep the baby safe! 🙂
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
Wow great video ❤
Thank you 🤗
Mother Annie from Dibo the Gift dragon become a chimpanzee
Tja, so ist das Leben mit Geschwistern😂
Ja, sie alle wollen mit dem Baby spielen, vielen Dank fürs Zuschauen.
Annie has some maturing to do but I think it's great that the young ones get the opportunity to work on their maternal skills. The adults seem to love all the kids and they are very patient with the shenanigans. Alice is SO chill with the new babe.
The young girls are really getting involved with the babies. They are a very unique group of chimps. 🥰
Layla seems very maternal with this baby boy (she's never been like this in the past) hopefully we have a baby on the way from layla 🤞
That would be amazing 👍 I think all the female chimps are behaving and bonding differently since this birth. Thanks as always for watching George, have a wonderful week.
Nice video it's been a long time very nice video thank you so much
Thanks so much Jimmy, I always appreciate your support. 👍
Poor baby, probably scared.
I think he was a little scared when Annie first took him 😃
Great apes do not let siblings as young as Anne babysit tgey do not usually let anyone until baby is older and usually older related female. Once the baby isn't nursing Annie can play under moms watchful eye with the baby. If this isn't the case Alice should be watched this baby coukd easily get hurt if the mother isn't good at parenting
Has she ever really tried to hurt the baby
I don't think so, but she is mischievous and young, I think the older chimps are keeping a watchful eye on her. 🥰
Maybe this is a dumb question but why do their rear ends look like that?
Its a hormonal swelling that female chimps get when in season and during pregnancy
Alice has extreme swellings, but they do receded as hormone levels drop in the weeks after birth
Alice's extreme swellings have permanently stretched the skin, so even when the swelling has reduced back, she is still left with some loose hanging skin
This video was recorded as the swelling was receding, and it has has now receded back more
Alice does not look pleased with Annie. 😂
You are right, she gave her a serious look and Annie ran straight back to the baby. 👍
I haven't been on enough to know what's been going on( I have been going through major health issue, scared really scared). I heard a rumor that Alice's baby died, is this true and when?
Mama needs to put girls in line before something happens,
This is actually very common in Chimpanzees. Alice is an experienced mother and this is a tight-knit troop. No harm is going to come to the baby. Primate babies are a lot stronger and more resilient than human babies. The baby was not in any harm.
It does look scary with them being high up but they navigate it as easily as we walk on the ground. The females are actually doing beautiful job teaching the younger ones how to treat the baby properly, and there are many watchful eyes!
I think they do need a little discipline, I have a video of Carlos dealing harshly with Stevie from the same day, maybe he was doing just that now you mention it. 👍
Me gustaria que los comentarios los pudiera traducir al Español.no se ingles

Todos quieren jugar😂
Son un grupo muy juguetón ahora que somos 3 pequeños y 2 bebés.🥰
Alice will not put up with much more
I hope you’re right
I think she will bring Annie into line. 👍
Who's Annie's brother
Thanks Jimmy, the baby hasn't been named yet as far as we know. He was born at the end of December 2023 👍
In Congo and Uganda they eat the babies . The meat is more tender according to bush meat consumers .
Wow!!
That's why they are endangered!
