I’m having trouble with my oem head unit. Im probably going to install an Eonon GA8165a in my 2006 325i as per your recommendation. My problem is I had a hip replacement recently and I can’t sit or maneuver well yet. Although your vid is very thorough I may need help. I have a feeling you and I aren’t very far apart. Would you, in the event we are geographically close to each other, consider installing it for me? I would of course pay you for your expertise. How would we exchange info and keep any crazies from zeroing in on us? Is there a pm system on CZcams? Thanks, Kevin.

With you had a video on how you moved the heat seated buttons
its the same process as moving the climate controls. you just have to take off the trim on the center console to get to the screws by the ashtray

Nice job and thanks for sharing. Just got the unit and will DIY this weekend thanks to you. One question. How come it seems like the air unit control is sticking out so much (hovering above the heated seat control)? Compared to the stock. Is that normal?
I just didn't trim the air unit control enough so it was sticking out a little...but with a little trimming it fits!

MrChayanne93 That's why I plugged in the two red and white auxiliary cables! it allows you to use the stock aux!
did your car have the heated seats in the climate control ??
The wire under the seat that goes to nowhere is actually used to keep the battery charged during shipping of the vehicle! Interesting, right?

What a great job on the video !! I noticed your stock radio has the M.O.S.T. wiring in the factory harness as does mine. Are you getting error codes of any type or did you do something to bypass it or turn it off somehow to avoid problems ? I'm installing an Eonon GA8165A unit. Again...AWESOME video !!
I have not had any error codes... which ones are you encountering?
As a matter of fact I pulled out my head unit today to see if I received any errors. I drove around for a while and none have appeared. Also the stock poweramp isn't in the MOST chain so I wont have to worry about it. I'm thinking the only head units requiring being installed for car software upgrades or troubleshooting are the IDrive and Logic7 units since you can program functions from them. I will keep my stock radio in any case. The SOS function has previously been turned off I'm assuming and my radio has no bluetooth functions. It's looking good right now. I'm not looking to blow the doors off but I think I will upgrade speakers and poweramp. I'm open to suggestions on both. Just don't have a lot of money to throw at it.

Great video. Dumb question, how does the metal bracket for the climate control attach to the radio? Mine goes into poaition, however, there is nothing to secure it to the radio
My metal bracket rests on the area above the ashtray.

Use a plastic pry tool and insert it just in front of each light
redsfan54321 drop the headlining down by removing the sun visor. You can access the retaining clips from above then.

Do you still hear the bmw chime with this aftermarket stereo?
Does it appear that there is no more sound from the PDCs and the radio sometimes resets everything to factory ?
what happens to the use of the original CCC display at the top of the dash? Cant see if it was operational after the installation?

Does it support subwoofers? Does it have a bass boost option or decent equilizer? Also how's the sound quality? It sounded pretty bad from the video
Yes and yes. I think the sound quality is a slight improvement over the stock radio.
Hi JDCars, Have you experienced failures with backup camera in BMW E90? Some guys recommend the use of a capacitor. What`s your opinion or recommendation? Thanks for your reply; Greetings from Mèxico.
I had a wire break, but other than that I haven't had any issues! A capacitor or fuse is a good idea
The whole problem with it being that low in the center stack as opposed to the standard location is it virtually unusable while driving as the eye deflection angle is too great.

If I tried this, guaranteed the wires would all be wrong, I would break all the tabs off the clips, it wouldn't fit in the opening and once I was done just shoving it into the dash, it would smoke and die. I could make a video to prove it but my camera would probably stop recording half way through. I can replace the engine air filters on an X5 though. As long as they have screws and not clips. Torx screws. That aren't already stripped out or missing.
Silly question, but why didn't you use the same route for the microphone and GPS antenna and take them both up the same A pillar?

You know if you dont have the phone module on a 2005 e90 do you need to purchase a mic or do they all come with them as standard ? I have all the bottons for the phone functionality but I dont have the phone option in my BMW head unit... I assume this will be a problem. I've just ordered one of these units but the full touch screen one. Im hoping to get a mic with it...
My bmw already has a mic. Would I still need to install the new mic or could I just use the oem one?

Where to get the custom tray for heated seat?
I'm in the middle of installing this in my e90, thanks for the awesome tutorial by the way, and I'm wondering did you completely trim off the plastic tabs on either side of the heat/ac unit? There's a metal clip on both sides and I'm wondering if I need to leave that or shave both sides completely down. Thanks!
Derek Chapman I removed the metal clip, and I only shaved down the bottom half of the side (if that makes sense)... You can pop the climate control into the bezel quickly just to visually see how much you need to trim off, that helped me a lot! Thanks for watching!

Derek Chapman do you not have sound from any source at all? Example: aux, Bluetooth, radio, Spotify, etc.

+JD Cars quick question. I’m want to order the xtrons 7 inch. But in their description it says it comes with a 6m extension wire to connect to the battery to save memory of this unit. What exactly is it? And is their a way around it. ? Also by installing this unit, well I still have all the info of service and stuff like that in the dash or will I loose it?

I think that sounds like a good idea! Many people do that modification to this stereo.
